Let us know if you’re ok in the flooding in Ruidoso (following last year’s fires). Rough stretch. We’re keeping you in our thoughts. It looks like you have some elevation at your house. I suppose the lower lying areas got it worst. But maybe the slopes get it badly too depending on the lay of the land. For a relative low-lander like me, it’s weird to think of flooding at nearly 7,000 ft. Be safe, our friend.

We actually live in Deming, NM and vacation in Ruidoso several times each summer to escape the desert heat. Fortunately we missed the latest rainfall that resulted in a record 20' above flood stage for the Rio Ruidoso that swept away one house. Thank you for thinking of us!

I remember you mentioning Ruidoso recently. Glad you all were gone for the floods. Some of those videos I've seen look pretty nasty out there.

Fortunately for us we were in Deming during the latest flooding..

You're right, the house that we rent from our friends there is on the mountainside on the eastern part of town, so our friends and their rental property are safe from flooding. We try to avoid driving around low-lying parts of town during flash flood alerts, which come out almost daily these days. It will take at least another year or two before the burn scars start to grow vegetation again. Thank you for thinking of us!

We were in CO last week, ranch we stayed at had somehow miraculously avoided a 100,000 acre fire in 2021. It sits in a gulch and therefore didnt burn. Owners had removed all dead trees from periphery of property.

Then the flash floods came...
