You ever drink Dickens Cider?

I read once that Yetis go into Anaphylaxis upon mention of it.
I don't enjoy a good Dicken's Cider nearly as often as I used to, but it is harder to find the right occasion. Nothing like starting your day with one and then ending the same day with another. Oh to be young again.

Now these youngins have an application, on their phone. They can punch up a Dickens Cider, protection (Coozy), KFC fried chicken. and the marijuanas. And it gets delivered to their door!

In my day, you had to walk to work. Then, get a ride to the bar, and try to get one. Then you walked home, or got a ride from someone.

Because I have two °'s in the mass commune (calm down @Weezer)-ications. It drives me nuts when hometown paper sensationalizes headlines to sell. Just report the news. I'm fully aware of them trying to sell things.
Agree. Also a mass comm grad that did a heavy focus on PR and journalism. What they're doing with those headlines are very obvious. I hate when actual news outlets use click bait.

great recruiter; an even better evaluator
Not sure why this is a hard concept. Super Bowls have been won by entirely 3* starting lineups. Yes, it's hard. No, you probably aren't good enough to build a winning college team entirely of 3*...however...the better you are at evaluation and development the greater the likelihood that you can get by with a higher percentage than those who aren't good evaluators. Given how competitive NIL is making recruiting, I would say that evaluation is the lowest hanging fruit right now.

Last time I checked there are no awards, banners, plaques, trophies, or bonuses issued for recruiting rankings.

The only thing that matters is on-the-field performance. If Heupel can do that with 25th ranked classes, nobody cares how he got there. On the flip side, I assure you there is hell to pay if you spend stupid money for top classes and then don't deliver.
While I fully agree...at some point we will get greedy and a championship is the ultimate goal ofc. The BCR is still undefeated...

Oh, by the way, our BCR will be at 51% this year. We finally made the club. First time since its inception (2013). Thank you Coach Hype!! 🥳🥳

People doubting him are ******* ***** *** **********.

Typed it out, but then edited.

The anti-nega Vols would have revolted.
In your original post you made mention that RG views this cycle as a “depth” class.

As in we are only recruiting depth pieces, not to disrupt the existing roster?
Or as in we’re gonna buy 4 good players instead of 2 great players?
Or as in something else?

What did that mean?

It means we need more armadillos.

It is also dependent on one’s expectations for “on field performance”.

Is it 10 wins and a playoff appearance?
Is it 11 wins and an SEC championship?
Is it 12-13 wins and a National Title?

If your personal expectation is the last one, you probably want to see improved recruiting - given the clear talent discrepancy we saw in our last game.

Who do you think will make the biggest impact on this year's team from the 2025 recruiting class: 1 from HS and 1 transfer?

For me:

High School: Travis Smith - I think he has an outstanding freshman year

Transfer: The easy answer if Joey A but I am going to go with Star Thomas - I think he will be RB1 and excel out of the backfield.

He’s a decent recruiter. Best recruiter since Fulmer. But he’s recruiting for Tennessee the kind of classes Tennessee should be getting.

You probably can’t be considered a “great” recruiter until you consistently land top 5-8 classes.

Now that (I think) I'm caught up with the conversation, I don't think Heupel's the problem. I question if some of the positional coaches are recruiting liabilities. If they are, then Heupel needs to be bold enough to make change, but I don't think he himself is the problem.

If we can at least occasionally beat the Georgia's of the world, and truly compete for SEC and national championships, then who cares where recruiting actually falls. But recruiting will continue to be an excuse as long as we struggle on that front.
This is not how recruiting works anymore. How good a recruiter a coach is is much less relevant as it typically comes down to $ now and you have even more figures playing big roles in recruiting these days especially at programs like Tennessee which has a massive recruiting apparatus they invest heavily into. There are many off-field guys doing heavy lifting in recruiting at Tennessee.

9 times out of 10 it is going to come down to $. Hometown discounts aren't really a thing.

I think Star Thomas will be RB3.

Reserving judgement until after the 1st fall practice reports. Nothing like a 10 second video clip of routes on air to determine who our all-americans will be. . .

HS: Davis Anders

Transfer: La'von Pearson

I sure as hell hope it’s David Sanders from the HS ranks, Joey Aguilar from the portal.

Else, it’s liable to be a rough year.

Amateur. Lube U bases their entire seasons on 10 second videos of routes on air. Levi's was declared a first round draft pick off of a 10 second video of routes on air. Get with the diddly dang program!

I asked Sally if she could help me throw q football on air. She tried to throw in some half ass QB name Tim Brady?!

Here, she sent this.

I agree. While our recruiting class with the OL is poised to be good for ‘26, and was solid for ‘25, it was the lack of recruiting and development there that had to force us to rely on a LT who had a bad ankle and was out of shape, and a RT who had horrible knees, and a former walkon. That is truely a recruiting and development problem, that in year 4 that’s the best product we could throw out on the OL. WR is a similar situation-we have a bad lack of depth and experience there, so we dont know what we’re getting. Problem is Elarbee is Heupel’s beat friend, so we’ll see how it all shakes out. It also appear to me we treat safety recruiting like an afterthought. Our safety play last year was below average, and really showed against osu, uga and even uf and bama at times
