Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I'm playing in one on Friday through my work. I think they're fun, even the circus show ones that go all out to get you to spend all your money and the winning team is laughably in the 40s. Most of the ones I play in are put on by organizations in the utilities industry, so they're really small events and the winning scores aren't crazy. I will say that I hated scrambles when I worked at a golf course in high school.
Adults who golf should give to charity. So much money, needs to go to someone who already makes a ton? Pfft.

Citizens Bank in Elizabethton has a tourney every year benefitting Boys and Girl's club. We always sponsor a team.

I didn’t say he did say that. I asked what the expectation was. Never said he said losing in supers was bad. I asked what the expectation was.

I’d argue something was far from off if this team that couldn’t win a series since Ole Miss made it all the way to the supers.

Maybe I should’ve asked if they made it to Omaha then would he still feel something was off.
You would argue anything.
I think most would say they didn’t think we’d beat Arkansas. But to sit back and say nothing seemed off with this team is out there.
That doesn’t mean this was a bad team or we hate the Vols.

The same would still be said. “I’m glad we made it to Omaha but there’s just something off with this team”. Doesn’t have to be bad or argumentative

I get that, and I support that...which is why I'm playing in the events. The problem I have is when you've already paid to play, given more money before the event starts, and then donated again at one of their "beat the pro" spots...you still get a hard sell later in the tournament when you finally turn someone down. I get they've got a job to do, but they go too far sometimes. Lloyd ain't rich...I can't start tapping into the grocery money or else I'll have to find a dead parakeet to sell.

Does any program have a more inflated view of their actual place than Arkansas baseball? Trophy case is way too empty to be that arrogant lol
I was listening to some Arkansas podcasts before our series and it is unreal. They were going on about how they have the best baseball program and it’s not close. And how great their program is overall. It was insane.

Van Horn is great, and Arkansas is a great program...one of the top 5 to 7 in college baseball. So, I'm not trying to understate how good they are.

But, he's been there for over 20 years, and has only 4 SEC Championships, total; he's only won the SEC Tournament once...again, in over 20 years. Vitello has that many in less than half the time. And, of course, a National Championship.

I will say this, though...as of right now, Arkansas is Vitello's kryptonite. They have our number, for the moment.

Scottie is 28th on tour in driving accuracy this season.

Morikawa (2nd) would be an interesting bet bc he’s like +2500 to win.

But Scottie still prob wins bc that’s all that dude does lol
I was trying to think of guys who drive the ball really well…Morikawa is a good pick that fits that mold. Also, last time I saw Spieth play, he was driving the ball really well. Maybe a dark horse pick?

I personally never feel confident with Spieth driving the ball 😂 but man I’d like to see him put it together again

My favorite was that Hog fan that said we had one lucky championship. As if we didn't win everything possible last season, including the CWS lol. TFW stacking a bunch of top 5 classes and winning a title with them is "lucky".

I get it though, you can't expect anyone affiliated with the Arkansas program to know what is involved with winning a title.
