I've been to Hilliard, lol. I sold a couple of paint jobs there a few years back and I also spent a bunch of time over in Yulee/Fernandina/Amelia Island not far away.

I'm down in Orange Park on the Southwest side of JAX on west side of the St. Johns river. I like it here but it gets pretty crowded going a few miles toward the city. Hilliard is a nice little place to raise a family and commute for work. I miss the mountains of East TN, though.

The little thing barely made it. The person that almost hit it didn't stop. But I did, and searched the ditch it ran into. I found a small half blind kitten. A little boy with Respiratory and eye infection. Full of fleas.

We gave him two baths, rust colored water due to flea poop, and picked at least 30 fleas off him. I'd estimate he's 5-6 weeks. He's eaten half an Iams dual pack of wet kitten food and is currently sleeping next to my snoring wife. He's full, warm and feels safe. He's succumbed to exhaustion.

Taking him to our vet in the morning for meds he needs......... Looks like the universe decided we need another pet.

I love stories like this. We rescued so many cats at one point that we had 26 of the Lil success. Down to 15 now. So many irresponsible owners. I assume you rescued a 'dumped' kitten.

Nice work. I've always wanted to enter something like that. I was thinking about trying the chili cook-off in Gatlinburg, til I learned you have to make like 50 gallons of chili (maybe not that much, but a lot). . . was it hard to do?

Yeah she has fond memories of it! I’ve yet to visit. I couldn’t think of living outside of east TN. Plenty of houses need roofs here too, ya know
