I've seen some SEC teams with downright horrible QBs win 8-9 games. Heck, our subpar QB play got us to the CFP.

8-4 is possible but I'm thinking 9 wins

Trent Dilfer. Yes. That was the name I was trying to remember. Not a very good QB. Defense was amazing.

Talking heads keep saying 8-4 is Tennessee's win total this year. I just don't see us losing to 4 of these teams even with a shaky QB. Seriously, what 4 teams beat us this year?

We got Georgia, Bama, and the toss ups are Florida, Oklahoma, Kentucky. But I don't see us dropping to OK and Kentucky. Florida and Bama are away games so they may be more difficult.

Bama is at worst a toss-up game now and moving forward. We have beat them 2 of the last 3 games, and our overall team talent level is much better now and continuing to improve.

The Braves are definitely a large market organization. It's not 1980 anymore.

That wasn't the point, but fair enough I don't really have an opinion on that. The front office is very good that was my point.

Experience and maturity are part of the talent equation. A 10 year old can have the most potential in the world, but his potential won't be realized until he's older.

Great defenses covered up a lot of Dilfer and Johnson's mistakes...those two QB's weren't asked to do much..

Dilfer is one of the ultimate proofs that qb doesn't always determine your team's success.

We'll also have a QB who just started learning the system and only has summer camp to actually get out there and execute. Running backs could be good but have huge shoes to fill. And TEs probably rely on how hurt Kitselman is. It is very fair to say our offense is one huge question mark. It could be great. Or it could be bad. I certainly can understand why we would be picked at 8-4.

And I think a lot of how our defense does will depend on how well McCoy recovers and LB play. LBs need to take a step forward this season like secondary did last season. Definitely think we'll have to lean heavy on our defense.

The first game of season vs Syracuse should be a example of how season goes. If we struggle and win, it's growing pains but if we struggle and lose it could be a long ass season.

On the other hand blowing the doors off Syracuse will be a promising sight to a good season...

I'll repeat myself. Please oh please don't let us have scoreless halves like last year. It was utterly painful. It still surprises me a bit to see a Josh Heupel team struggle so much on that side of the ball. I guess the Hooker year biased me.
