Recruiting Football Talk VIII

How is this even possible? Titans with the 3rd most expensive WR room in the NFL? The Eagles $24 mill below them, with the stud WR the Titans didn’t want to pay. And the Eagles have DeVonta. Who do the Titans have? Ridley? Make it make sense.

because AJ Brown + DeVonta has a ton of guaranteed money on the front end.

For reference, Combs was drafted in the 8th round last year and got $250k as a signing bonus and didn't come back (he shouldn't have come back)

I don't think we're giving a whole lot of guys 250k

Kilen, Fischer, Curley, Phillips, Snead, Franklin, Russell, (Maybe Bargo & Peebles), will all be drafted higher than the 8th round

And still this is one of TVs youngest teams he has had. In a game vitally important to the season yesterday we had 3 freshmen in the lineup and a freshman as the starting pitcher.

Uhh...my guy have you not kept up with free agency? Although most of that is Calvin, he alone is eating 28m cap hit...

But Burks (4.5m) & Lockett (4m) are also on the books. The rest of the WR group is about 1m a piece and they added quite a few via draft/free agency

3 improvements this team has to and can make:
1. Capitalize on o when the opportunity presents itself
2. Defense/Fielding
3. Day 2 and 3 Pitching

Bonus item: situational baseball

Super young team. Lots of talent. If they can go on a run maybe a strong dose of confidence can carry them to Omaha.

Will be interesting to see how they show up in Ark and then navigate the sec tourney. I expect we’ll get revenge on at least 1 or 2 teams we lost a series to.

This is spot on. Our growth has been evident at every position group except ol and wr, they’ve been getting worse each season

Totally missed the most important position on the field. We have not gotten better year over year at QB or even stayed even. I thought Nico could get there, but he wasn't seeing the field well in the middle of last season.

OL affected Nico, Nico affected the WR's. Regardless of what people think about the WR's, they have been open for 4 straight years. Time after time. Get a QB like Hooker who can get them the ball more consistently.

I have - but it’s a mediocre - at best - wr room. That’s a steep price for mediocrity.

That is a bit damning in that of any position on the field, Heupel should be strong with coaching QBs.

Our o-line is going to stellar next year, maybe tops in the country. I still contend that the wr were not bad, there were tons of open receivers last season. They were either missed or missed. It think the wr play had more to do with o-line and qb than the receivers themselves.

This is truth.

Have you gotten into someone's bourbon stash?

Yeah...I think better QB play and the WR room would have looked a lot better this season and last.

There is a reason the pro QBs talk about a catchable ball and how important that is rather than velocity or being able to just sling it a mile.

Knowing where your receiver is, helps.

Throwing a catcheable ball, helps.

Being able to do backflips, doesnt.IMG_9358.gif
