Meet the giant Ovcharka. Russians used to use them to keep prisoners in check. AKA Caucasian Shepard dog. Cute and cuddly till they ain't.
The Chinese have a very similar looking guardian dog as well.

Guardian breeds have become my favorite, I've read a little about these guys and they appear to be a very loyal member of the family when raised right..... But fierce protectors.

Stalking of livestock guardians there is high demand for them here currently. People suspect a mountain lion has entered our area of Southern Mid Tennessee. TWRA has confirmed at least 3 kills from what they say is likely large cat.

A woman who lives 30 miles away to my southwest has lost two goats. If you live in Southern Mid Tennessee keep your pets and livestock safe.

Happy Monday

May 12, 2025: Issues that you have been dealing with and fussing over will begin to fade like the sun going down...slowly, but surely. And, you will wake up to a new day with renewed possibilities and hope. Healing will be the order of the day as you lean on the Lord and trust the process. Luke 1:78-79 because of the tender mercy of our God by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.

On beisbol,

Fold in more talent. We'll be fine.

League is just better this year.
The SEC is a killer this season.

This was a roster rebuild year that Tony made more competitive through the portal. You cannot lose 8 guys to the draft with most in the top 5 rounds and not feel the effects. Add in the lost leadership and experience. They have shown very little team chemistry this season. The hot start was great, but apparently they never found themselves as a team.

They have totally forgotten the value of defense, especially in the IF, to go with the spotty pitching. Other than Doyle, this staff was not ready for big boy ball. Regardless of their coaching philosophy, you have to develop pitchers to hold runners and get the ball to the plate quicker from the stretch. The easy stolen bases by any opponent who can run has been ridiculous.

One week to go to get it together the best they can.

the lack of pitching and bats is eye opening.

and I agree with you. Have no doubt he'll grt it corrected.

Tuesday against Belmont is Senior Day for Vols baseball.

Vols have 1 senior.
One Senior and a lot of draft eligible players that are underclassmen.

Doyle
Phillips
Russell
Franklin
Kilen
Fischer
Curley
Bargo
Chapman
Peebles

All will be draft eligible, not saying they all leave...

doyle is gone.

Phillips meeds to be a closer or middle relief.

I bet Gavin leaves.

I could see Gavin returning if not a high draft pick, the injury probably hurt his stock and with NIL really not much reason to go play minor league and travel as much if you can improve draft stock with another year here likely making as much.

I think the 3 most likely to go are Liam, Fischer, Phillips (or Curley) the last 2 it'll be about how high their "potential" is because I don't think either have had productive enough seasons to increase stock but they'll be drafted off measurables.

Ok, roll off Gavin, roll in Fischer.

Hate losing arms but cant hols folks back either. Hope we can find suitable replacements.

Which I'm sure we will, this was the closest to a full rebuild we may see under Tony and the team will win 40+ and could make noise in post season if the bats get hot.

I'm just hoping we can keep a lot of the FR talent we want to keep.

But only Colby Backus & Hunter Ensley as seniors is pretty crazy.

21 true freshmen on roster (not sure how many are walk-ons)
6 RS freshmen on roster
7 true sophomores
2 RS sophomores

IF they get drafted, they will go.

The baseball draft is different from other sports due to the leverage and signing bonuses. You have to go when you have leverage.

I think Doyle, Phillips, Russell, Franklin, Kilen, Fischer, Curley, Bargo are all locks to be drafted and go.

Peebles will probably be drafted because he is a switch-hitting catcher who has shown a little bit of pop. Chapman will be an interesting one

I think this draft may be so heavy with talent, it may be strategic to stay one more year.

My thing is, how can so many people believe outrageously stupid things that with any cross-examination falls apart and dismiss plain truth covered in facts and reasoned thought. I have encountered many "learned" people who go to extraordinary obnoxious lengths of absurdity to avoid truth that they don't like. Recently I met a 45 year old college educated man who tried to tell me that other planets did not exist when I happened to mention something about Venus. I said, "Well stick around for a few hours and I'll show it to you."
I am sorry if it is inconvenient but no you can not have your own personal truth, there is only the truth and it is the same for everyone.

Youth and inexperience rears it's ugly head in baseball more than any other sport. Just ask Michael Jordan.

Seniors very rarely get drafted early in the draft. Teams know they have no leverage and can't go back to school.

Best example, look at Evan Russell, he was a senior and didn't get drafted and had to sign an UDFA deal with the Angels.

Like I said, the baseball draft is completely different than football/basketball. It's not as simple as just returning back to school.

You’re right. What I meant to emphasize is how young this team is. You are right to emphasize also how many players we could lose this year. It’s nearing time for these guys to make their statement.

It also shows what a job CTV has on his hands next year. Fortunately, as far as I hear, baseball recruiting machine goes b-r-r-r!
