Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Well, a little life altering news from me today. After 12 years at my company I have put in my 2 weeks notice. I I've been dealing with a new GM at work and this guy is something. Continually making life hard for everyone in the company, especially those that are in management, like yours truly. Well, yesterday I had chest pain on left side along with arm pain and numbness. Went to the ER, no heart attack, but most likely stress related. May 9 I will be a free agent. Not sure what the future looks like but it won't be here any longer.
I did the same thing 10 years ago. I was miserable, hateful, and was taking my work related frustrations out on my family. Then one day it just wasn't worth it anymore. I interviewed for another company and was told I had a position in their IT department. They said to just call them back at the end of my 2 week notice and we'd do the paperwork then. Well, 2 weeks went by, I called them back and they told me my position was filled (I heard later it was someone in that dept's cousin). I was ticked off. I could have went back to the same company I was leaving but I just couldn't. I was mad at them but they still liked me and needed me. I prayed hard about it and The LORD told me to not go back and HE'D take care of us. I quit and I didn't work for 5 months. I interviewed a few times but no offers. But..... in that time, I got closer to GOD than I'd ever been. I prayed more, studied the Bible more, visited more churches, testified more, taught more, and even sang a few times. I had to get that hate out of my life to be useful to GOD, which is what HE wanted all along. And we still paid our bills and had everything we needed. It was a good lesson for me to trust in GOD completely and be thankful for what I've got. What I've learned in my life, KEEP GOD 1ST and everything will be alright.

The studio works in that it's actually very funny whereas WL, Sevvy, and succession are mostly dark comedies (dramedy) that don't lean into slapstick and setup-->punchline like the studio does. We need to bring back legit straight comedies in a big way because the studio is proving it works in this climate
100%

Life and society has gotten so dystopian and off-the-rails the last few years, I need more straight comedies that aren't so damn wack.

I still love those other shows, but dear lord just give me a few more shows with reprieve. The Studio has been a blessing.

You guys were so good at sciatic pain who has a tip on getting a rusted or glued on flywheel off of a twin briggs? Sheared a bolt off in the fan mounting hole trying to use a puller. Have poured heat and sent chisels under it for leverage. There is nothing sturdy to pry against under it.

Poured pb blaster on it. Stepped up to gas and tranny fluid, even did the heat and candle trick. If I was strong enough I'd turn it over and just shake it, but I ain't.

Been there myself. Best decision I ever made. The goodness of life far exceeded any expectations or desires I ever had before I made that choice.

Computer Science/IT corporate jobs are really toxic work environments. What my Mom went through and what others go through everyday cause the salary can be insane is not worth it. Drains your soul away.

Same - 2 job losses took me to God and a heavy dose of Job before a job. Never been happier, but i also learned to let go of chasing raises too. They kind of come now and I don't stress when they are delayed. A good job is way more valuable than good pay.

Elite running backs are making a comeback. Jeanty is a top talent and deserving at 6, especially for a team that desperately needs a quality back. The Cowboys needed a O-Lineman and they may have gotten the best guard in the draft. The boys are probably gonna draft another lineman they are thin there.

Eh, maybe. It's still relatively easy to find quality backs throughout the draft. Certainly it seems silly that the Raiders invested such a high pick into RB when their QB seems to be aging out. If they manage to get Sanders in the 2nd round, it would make a lot more sense.

Good for you.

Maybe you'll take a bit less pay...more commute...but happiness and health are primary. Money is merely a tool towards health and happiness, so if your current situation isn't fulfilling your end needs, it's unnecessary.

Take care of yourself buddy and enjoy the next adventure.

Don't think it is racially motivated but there seems to be some bias by people that don't like the sander family. I can't make up my mind whether Sanders is good or not.
I wonder freakin why? Deion (and apparently he's passed it on to his kids) is such a massive narcissist that the president of the Narcissists International said, "Wow, that dude is really stuck on himself."
But it is kinda funny that so many people dislike him. Usually people really warm up to obnoxious, self-centered,condescending, self promoting, blowhards. Weird.

Apple+

If you don't want long-term, I'd suggest getting it a few months and binging shows like The Studio, Severance, Silo, Ted Lasso, Shrinking, I'm sure there are others.

Apple+ has been killing it to the level of HBO.

They'd be way better off waiting to draft a QB next year IMO. It will be a FAR better class for QB's. I also disagree regarding Jeanty. RB's of his caliber are rare.

Never devalue a very good to great running back. That any back will do attitude has gotten many teams in trouble. A team with a stable of average backs will get you average results. Too many teams settle for average too much at the position. Just my opinion. GBO

All those shows you listed are the ones to binge watch for sure. HBO has been slacking lately Apple+ might takeover when it comes to premium series.
If anyone wants to try it pretty sure you can get 3 free months on a trial. You can cancel the payment immediately in your account but still get the free trial.

Man dealing with hellacious sciatica pain. Anyone got any advice?
Need to find the source of issues first. Lots of people use sciatica as a very broad term for “low back pain”

Do symptoms go all the way into your foot? Do they follow a uniform dermatomal pattern? Do the symptoms radiate down into the glute then stop?

4 big things I screen for.
1. Are symptoms coming from the spine? Confirmed with a “slump test” or “straight leg test
2. Are there tight muscles in the low back or glutes that are pinching along the nerve?
3. Do you have neural tension? The nerves are too tight and need “nerve gliding” exercises
4. Is it really a muscle that is causing a referral pattern that mimics nerve pain.

All 4 are different and require different types of exercises and movements to alleviate the root cause

This is one I’m split on. Quality in backs (apart from the truly elite) is often a question of degree. Blocking and scheme matter a ton. An average back will still get yards and TDs and will often get the vast majority of what a great back will get. It’s different than WRs: a great WR is always open, lower quality WRs seldom are. Especially in the pros, spending money outside of RB has a higher ROI. Great backs are incredible to watch, but they rarely carry teams to the Super Bowl.

But guys like Jeanty or Barkley or Elliot (and Jackson, Peterson, or Walker from days gone by) are just different. Elite is elite, and elite is often worth the cost.
