Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This was the best breakdown of Nico the situation I have heard yet.

Some things they mention, I did not know:
-Tulane was never interested, only had a talk with him.
-Tulane could not talk to Nico without his dad on the line.
-Nico's dad tried reaching out to Boomer Sooner to combat the bad publicity.
-They were shopping him out in the fall and made unrealistic demands
-Nico's camp thinks he is the future number 1 draft pick

No wonder he sucked on the back half of the schedule…he wasn’t focused and had one foot out the door..crazy

The QB thread is becoming as bad if not worse than the FF. Last week Heupel was a god, today he’s one step close to being fired.

This sums up exactly what I dread about the NIL era. A broken governance model will lead irrational fans to direct their ire at coaches and administrators, leading to undue pressure and early firings.

Worst case, this whole mess could spiral into another lost decade for Tennessee. Given the decade will coincide with the professionalization of the sport, I likely won’t be along for the ride.

Right now, I lean towards thinking 2022-2024 was peak, modern UT college football. Enjoyed getting one last ride before I likely call it quits.

Exactly. Nico never was 'all in'. Not surprising when you pull a guy with zero connection to the school and probably couldn't spell Tennessee. Good when yes, the money is important, but the guy also wants to be here.

Agreed until the last part.

Well that and I’ll still be along for the ride.

Wow. Level of idiocy and whining is once again off the charts. Pendleton and Moe were great pickups. DT is more a position where depth is needed. NOT somewhere you are likely to overpay. Nobody in the WR portal worth overpaying either. If we don't get everyone the message board gurus want, tough crap. You don't like Heupel's results, Dooley and Pruitt are available. Yall better calm down and straighten out before McGill gets here.

You do realize this all started from the RF right?..😭🤣 all season long we talked about how we needed better receivers to replace the veterans we were going to lose due to eligibility or the draft with people from the portal…now that we’re striking out on top receivers in the portal..you’re back tracking acting like nothing is wrong and we have the depth/talent which is partially true.they have talent no question but do we have the depth with how JH likes to rotate his receivers!?…

nobody is saying he’s should be fired or he’s getting fired..but throwing your hands up claiming people are speaking out of pocket when it’s been brought to the surface many of times in here is crazy work. It’s also been discussed in here that some in house hires suck at recruiting or hate it.so yes it’s a concern starting with the OL coach he’s proven nothing thus far and don’t get me started on the OC. I appreciate the work JH has put in to get us here but he needs to get some of these coaches off their ass and recruit or find a solution to his problems like the offense (HIS BABY) it’s not been the same since his first 2 seasons here and we can all agree on that…

don’t forget about this era of college football where the university’s are now charging more for tickets to help with NIL and ask for more donations all the time.people have a right to complain when it comes to this ask anyone in here how they feel about season tickets/donations right now…expect more of this IF it continues on a downward trend when the season starts..

JH gets a pass from me this year personally but the perspective is different for everyone it’s not just you and we all want to see this university succeed..chill out

You're just venting. You know that's not right. Dylan Sampson didn't have a UT connection. I could name dozens of guys like that.

If it was not surprising, bump your posts from Nico's signing day saying that.
