I'm kind of petty but I would laugh if we paid the amount nico was asking for to get a transfer QB.

I tend to be petty myself, but that would be incredibly stupid. Refuse to pay a QB who was handpicked by the head coach and who knows the system, then turn around and give that money to a guy who can't enroll until summer and only has summer camp to learn the playbook? That would make zero sense.

I'm thinking 6-6 floor, 10-2 ceiling. Closer to 6 than 10 in my opinion.

4 million. We offered another 500k in incentives. He would have been in the 2.5-3 range here. He may get 3, but he botched the hell out of this if he was swinging for 4. Maybe I am wrong imo it will be UNC or UCLA to overpay. He won't even be as good Drake Maye if he ends up at UNC and UCLA is a rebuild. He tanked his full value.

So they're suggesting we're willing to pay another QB the amount Nico was asking for? That makes no sense. If we were willing to pay $4million, why not just give that to Nico to begin with and avoid all this?

It’s not about the money at this point. I don't think it ever was. It’s the principle.

And these boosters are about to fork over some $$$ to prove a point.

It makes a ton of sense if it is a better QB. No one knew how good Nico was better than Heupel. He didn't budge on raising him outside incentives. Kid made 2mil off of us sitting bench and had been shopping his services repeatedly all winter. The relationship went bad. Bottom line.

Question. If we poach another team's QB, isn't that QB doing to his current team what Nico is doing to us?

I hope Nico fails horribly at his next stop and never makes the NFL.

If he's sitting skipping practices for leverage and ditching NIL responsibilities, yes.

Nico could have sailed into the Carson Beck sweepstakes at the end of this season. Gone NFL or mercenary to a contender or top payer. They are literally idiots. Greed killed that dude's image and likely his relationship with his dad.

Nico's problem is he's not got the leadership qualities you need at that position. He is a really good QB.

Issue is we want great.

Too many bad reads, check downs, just not having that internal clock. Anyway, he didnt get us beat, instead of winning the game. If that makes sense.

To make a long story short, he's an average QB. Problem is that he wanted the pay of a championship QB. He risked it all and now he's gonna take a huge pay cut.

Still could not make the reads though. Imo maybe even behind Milton. That offense was really damn bad last year.
