Let's not be obtuse about UT's motivation in that lawsuit. The purpose of defending him specifically was much larger in scope than just getting Nico eligible.Plowman/Danny White/Randy Boyd/Josh Heupel really went to bat for Nico over the NCAA a year ago...
Really disappointing that this is how his crew wants to play things with how much the University had his back
He's like all kids and selfish people that don't understand that just because the market moved doesn't mean you get a new handout every time. Call me a boomer, but this level up mentality without the grind is fools gold.Nico probably thinks he deserves an extra $1.5M because we made the playoffs when in reality it was 90% due to Sampson and our defense.
Nico should be in the film room and practice field working his ass off and getting better instead of how many millions he’s going to make. Terrible look for him, because he was utterly mediocre last year.
He's done here, no coming back now......Contract negotiation rumors and now holding out of spring practice is a bold move from the supposed-to-be star QB who was supposedly all-in and had stepped up as a real leader.
Here's a major reason why its so bold: NIL. If you piss off the fanbase that's buying your autographs and jerseys they're gonna stop doing that. And if they stop doing that, you will (I assume) make less.
Either Nico is done at Tennessee or orchestrate a new contract and he returns.
If it's the latter, he better show out. Honeymoon is over. Marginal play will get him crucified after this.
By that math you have 1 million a piece for 4 skill guys with his ridiculous departure.
Yup. You get a longer leash with the fans because of the turnover and its a rebuild with 2 freshman QBs ahead of Faizon coming in.The math is pretty simple. If the coaches believe that Nico will take us to the playoffs again then you pay him. Otherwise, you let him go and just play the younger guys knowing that the 2025 ceiling is now lower. You run the risk of losing more skill players though which should be part of the calculation.
Him or Bryce Brown.
Both #1 prospects.
Both came with a lot of drama.
Both (seemingly) left UT early.
