Recruiting Football Talk VIII

He’s the player. He has the final say. It’s his fault whether it’s an agent, a family member, or his roommate’s brother’s former lover’s second cousin. He can make it stop but is choosing not to, so that’s on him. Unless he’s been kidnapped, he made the decision not to go to practice.
Yeah he's also 20 years old and being pressured by his entire Polynesian family.

Everyone on the team and the coaches love Nico.

But hey, I'm sure the redneckery that's ensuing is gonna do wonders for the program.

At this point the relationship is toxic, Nico's team obviously didn't want this out in the public, Tennessee's people had become frustrated to the point where a move had to be made, they had to use leverage as well.

What I haven't seen discussed here is what happens moving forward, Nico has to move on now IMO. Losing your starting QB likely means losing some other key players to the portal as well.

It also puts into question recruiting moving forward, this is all horrible news and absolutely zero way to put a positive spin on it.

nil has it where for the players it's all about the money and not about the wins and losses.

Kids don’t factor the school, culture, coaching staff, or playing time hardly at all. It’s the money.

There needs to be a cap in place soon, so it brings recruiting back into play. You can be a dull personality and incompetent HC at a school like Ohio St, but you can sign any high level recruit you want, because of the current unlimited Wild West NIL system.

To be fair, I don’t think this is all Nico. I think it’s less him and more his agents trying to get more money for him and a bigger commission for them.

This all reflects on Nico, regardless.
He’s a big boy. He decided to skip practice. Don’t shy him away from criticism. This is squarely on his shoulders.

I’m glad Nico is perfect in every way.
The bigger story is the "daddy ball" NIL portal issue being an absolute cancer right now, but I understand our fans reactions.

I dont like the idea of this heing almost entirely on his circle and he has to take the brunt of it and it messes with our season.

Odds are he's still our QB. Hopefully it all works out and blows over.
