Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I actually sat down and watched entire LV softball game yesterday. Did anyone else see the game yesterday ?

Saw one play in particular that shocked me. Right fielder for us caught a fly ball and threw to 3rd to prevent runner on 2nd from advancing and just to see the throw you would think it was a guy throwing! Frozen rope, didn't know a female had an arm like that..
Softball can be a ton of fun to watch. We have a pitcher right now who can throw a damn softball 78.2 mph. That’s nuts.

We are 28-2.

Last year when we hit the 28-win mark we already had 6 losses.

2022, possibly the greatest college team ever, statistically, had 1 loss when they hit the 28-win mark. But lost 2 of their next 5 to be at 31-3. Think we can match or better that mark by the next midweek game.

Another very special season. Jeez.

Obv we all know, but what TV has done is incredible. It’s not supposed to work like this.

Tony Vitello is our baseball Pat summitt, Nick Saban, Belichick, whatever else great college coaches you can think of. It’s incredible. He’s doing it in probably the toughest sport the sec has from top to bottom. It’s amazing.

It took the NFL to figure out that he needed glasses? Explains a lot of the problems with his passing accuracy.

Surely Tennessee can add an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to the medical team. This could benefit all the sports!

Ground breaking discovery right here! 🤠
After Dak Prescott inevitably gets hurt, if Joe Milton shows up to his first start rocking the Burlsworth I will put $500 on whatever his over is for passing yards.

I don't think there's anything biological about being able to throw. I always grew up thinking girls had something wrong with their arms that made them throw funny, but I think it's just training. You're rignt, some of those ladies have cannons.

Softball is far more enjoyable to watch relative to baseball than women's basketball is relative to men's.

There is a mechanical difference to throwing motions that can’t really be changed because it’s at the skeletal level but a lot of what kids mock as a girls throw had more to do with girls not participating in sports much. So yeah a lot is training and if a girl or woman who has played a lot of sports you’re not going to necessarily see it with the naked eye. Women can compete fairly well in throwing but the mechanics of men’s and women’s throwing motions will be slightly different no matter what.

If softball ever got to be a big money maker we would probably see a big jump in women’s throwing (both underhand and overhand) because some really smart people would be paid to maximize that throwing motion taking into account those skeletal differences.

As for women’s basketball… it’s going through a phase right now that reminds me of men’s college basketball in the past. It doesn’t have enough complete players. It has a bunch of players who might be aces at one or two aspects of the game while being godawful at others but no one is standing out as a total player. Ain’t no Holdsclaw or Parker in sight.
