I answered this yesterday, but the conference indeed has a pool of their own officials. Some will officiate other conferences because they are independent contractors. But the SEC uses the same group. These 3 today have done SEC all year.
Independent contractors = not bound to the league and also not governed by them. With amateurism dead there’s no excuse for that at all. Refs being independent contractors makes them even more susceptible to corruption. Refs need to be under either a National or conference governing body AND paid a decent full time salary. And with that done reined in and held to a set of standards. This needs to be done across sports in college and beyond.

Only a few teams have 30 wins this season…I think we should be the top 2 seed, but St. John’s is the only potential team imo that could be ahead of us.
I’m going to say this for about the hundredth time. The number of wins doesn’t really matter. It’s who you beat. They have 6 Q1 wins; we have 11. They aren’t even top 10 in KP and the NET. They lost to UGA in non conference.

However, the conference only uses certain officials. That was the point. There are only a certain number that the SEC uses, and it is the premier conference. We don’t know their names doing the AAC.

I remember years before him there was a kid that did something similar. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t protected from the radiation and absorbed too much to even think about working in the field. Of course I don’t think eBay and the wealth of information available online today was an option for him.

I get that. That much was never in doubt. Part of the reason that pool is so small is because they’re not paid as a full time job. They’re super fans and former players working for peanuts because they love the sport but we’re doing nothing to check their work or their biases let alone to combat corruption from schools, boosters, gamblers, etc.

You can’t starve someone, give them no benefits, and insert them into a world where tons of players are willing to give them big money for a missed call here or ticky tacky call there and have no one looking over their shoulder. It’s begging for trouble at best.
