Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Vols are still in a "buy low" sort of situation with our players...doesn't help that Hyatt, Wright, Hooker, and Tillman haven't really produced at a high level.

Byron Young though being what he has been...I think NFL teams will put a bit more trust in our DL because of that. Pearce is taller and more developed than Young and nearly as fast too. Really don't expect him to drop out of the 1st round.

The Pearce character stuff doesn't make sense and it does feel like a play by some teams to get him to drop to them. At the same time, it would be nice if Heupel would publicly speak out in support of Pearce against these character attacks. If he doesn't, then maybe there was a lot going on behind the scenes that we weren't aware of.

The Bra podcast indicated, weeks ago, that there was a 'reason coaches didnt let him talk.' Further, 'not that he would say anything, kid rarely say anything.' Paraphrasing.

We will see on draft day. All i can gather from what has been shared is dude was not a fun teammate. I am sure there have been a lot of those through the years on a lot of squads.

Yeah Cory Kinnan is a nobody far as I can tell...

But he likely has a NFL team or two pushing this narrative into his ear to try and get Pearce to slide for them to snag with a later pick. Happens almost every draft and most these no-name or small time media folks always take the bait cause they want insider connections to help make them.
Or more likely he saw some media activity around it (started by an NFL team like you suggested) and totally made up the post based on what he's read to get clicks.

I think part of the thing with Pearce is he's just a quiet guy. I think in this specific situation saying anything is just fanning a dying flame.

Cause it'll quickly get turned around to a "if there aren't concerns why did he feel the need to address it?"

To me a real character issue guy would be Tyler Baron...but he has less draft stock so no one is trying to create a false narrative to have him slide.

I didn’t say how lol. But that kinda misses the point. If someone my size can go high on the net there’s no excuse for multiple misses on the easiest of shots when you’re close to being able to drop it in flat footed.

Al Wilson was a fun teammate, constantly getting in your face, demanding you give your best, not caring about feelings...

John Henderson was a great listener, liked long walks, and really developing deep long lasting relationships.

Juan Jennings loves excuses, when he's out taking a linebackers legs out for you to run. He definitely wants to snuggle.

In short:

If you're talking about the 2 Felix missed against Bama I was thinking that myself. One was almost a too aggressive slam, it was like him pulling on the rim hit the ball or something and it bounced out. The other I think he just didn't have a good grip and wasn't quite able to guide it in.

I love Felix, but at times he almost tries to put too much into dunks and blocks. I think a few of these bigs should spend some time watching Bill Russell film. A block should steal you a possession and you can do that without trying to swat them into the stands.

I hate when our players go to crappy teams. Hyatt and Tillman are definitely better than their stats.

My algorithm has moved on from midgets to flat-earth. I watched one video about the planets alignment from someone who apparently thinks the earth is flat, now that's all i'm getting. I'm really kinda surprised at how many people actually believe this. . . i mean fully, all-in believe it with every fiber of their soul.
As a science guy this boggles and blows my mind. How can anyone who is not brain dead or mentally ill believe the earth is flat? I guess the same people who believed that aliens built the pyramids.

I would normally agree that it's best to say nothing publicly, but now they're trying to blame his supposed character issues on the people at Tennessee. That will 100% be used against Tennessee in recruiting.

Meanwhile the players at UGA get a pass for their BS and bama's basketball players were simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time".

One of the cool things I've seen in this mess is the mirages in the sky, where the light bends and shows a full city from 100+ miles away in the sky. One was Chicago across the great lakes, that was cool. There's another one in china that's pretty wild looking too. Of course they claim it's no mirage, 👀
ohh, I'll have to look for that.

I mean Tennessee should speak up, but I'm saying for Pearce it makes no real sense. Will Heupel, Banks or RG say anything though...don't know.
