I’m in Minneapolis for the weekend. I went to the Mall of America this morning and I saw 2 Vols that gave me a “Go Vols”

And when I was in line getting lunch at the food court, I had someone say “Roll Tide” and I asked “What made you become a Bama fan?” His response: “I was born and raised in Minneapolis but I became a fan of Alabama in 2010.”

That quote says it all. Bunch of Saban fans in that fanbase.

I was watching the game in my hotel room and I let out a huge scream when Shack hit that buzzer beater. That’s a memory that will stick with me for a long time.

Who have they lost to that is so bad ? UK twice, for some reason, just a bad match-up for this team, hope the Vols miss 'em in the SEC Tourney. Still, UK is a NCAA Tourney , just like Vandy.

Auburn has had one HUGE advantage all season, zero growing pains. They added 2 top 100 freshmen to a roster nearly older than the OKC Thunder.

Florida also returned almost everyone.

We’ve had to learn and build chemistry together as the season played out.

You're being circular again. You already said you no longer consider Florida a Tier 1 team. By definition that makes Auburn's home loss to UF a loss to an inferior team.

You also said elite teams don't lose to inferior teams. If you've changed your mind about Florida being an elite team in the last 30 minutes, then how do you compartmentalize them getting blown out by an "inferior" team (Vols).

You're suffering from confirmation bias. By only highlighting the facts that support your beliefs and ignoring the ones that don't and building a whole construct around the idea that the Vols, a Top 5 team that are set to be a Top 4 team, are not elite.

Had my fourth child yesterday evening. I was unable to go to the game, so my dad and brother in law went (so pumped they got to see it).

But this is the best part… I’m watching it on my phone in the room, so when Mashack hit the game winner, I went nuts. As I am going nuts the nurses rush into the room due to my screaming, obviously to make sure my wife and son were alright. I assured them everything was fine, just got excited because Tennessee hit a game winner against Alabama. A story that the little guy will hear one day! Go Vols!!

Man, you are right. But, give me Auburn, Florida and/or Bama in the SEC and I like our chances better than UK. Why ? Nope, that's why they are #1. But, great basketballs teams lose games, occasionally. In fact, iIrc the last undefeated National Champions were Indiana, in 1976. So, every Champion team in almost 50 years has lost to an inferior team. Basketball is not football, everybody loses, at least once, even the great Auburn Tigers have 2 losses to inferior teams.

Auburn's losses are to Duke and Florida. You perceive these two opponents as elite teams. You said elite teams don't lose to inferior teams, and we aren't elite because of 3 inferior losses: Kentucky (2) and Vandy.

Duke has 2 losses to inferior teams: Kentucky and Clemson.
Florida has 4 loss to inferior teams: Mizzou, Kentucky, Georgia, and Vols (inferior per you).

So, by your logic Duke and Florida cannot be elite teams. If they aren't elite teams then they are inferior to Auburn. If they are inferior to Auburn, then Auburn has losses to inferior teams. If Auburn has inferior losses, then they aren't elite.

An elite basketball team is not elite because it "doesn't have losses to inferior teams." There's so much more that goes into the makings of "elite" in college basketball.

I think if you look across the country there are a handful of elite teams: Auburn, Duke, Vols, Houston, Florida, and Bama are without a doubt in that category. The next 4-6 are potentially elite teams, depending on how they finish the season. Elite teams drop winnable games in college basketball over the course of a long season with fatigue, bad luck, and rivalries. Its not like football where a single loss historically ruins you.

You didn’t say losing to Vandy and UK was worse. You said Auburn was the only tier 1 team and that you don’t view Bama and UF in that tier anymore. Then proceeded to say elite teams like Auburn don’t lose to inferior teams. A tier 1 team losing to a tier 2 team is by definition losing to an inferior team.

2012 Kentucky national champs with Anthony Davis and the overall #1 seed lost to unranked Indiana and unranked Vanderbilt.

Barnes knows Golden & Pearl…Pope was an unknown & Pope played us different in both games. He has no more surprises in a 3rd matchup.

I started out just lightly ribbing you but the responses you've had after are just unfathomable to me.

I just simply cannot understand why you hate Rick Barnes and have a perspective on this team that defies logic. Yes, they can lose early in the tournament. Any team can. They also have fhe potential to go further than ever. But you seem dead set banking on the former instead of being excited for the potential.

I'll let it go now and won't bring it up again. I know you're a good dude and we will just always disagree on basketball and Rick Barnes and that's fine.
