Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Name the game that was most contested growing up.
Monopoly for me. Maybe weird shots in Horse as a close second.

My friends and I "invented" a game called "PICK"

We cut up small squares and had S, D, T, HR, SO, GO, FO, DP, HBP, etc.......in a coffee can. We calculated the % of each scenario and made sure the Squares matched the MLB averages.
We selected our MLB Team and had baseball cards for each player.
We set line-ups and kept stats for each player.

50 Game season with 6 teams.

This was age 8-10. Those games were full of trash talk and got intense.

RISK was 2nd place.

Well, this is certainly an interesting development lol. The judge in the Georgia player’s case is an NCAA official!!! Sheesh. How is this not found out BEFORE the hearing?

That sounds about right. You can’t make this stuff up. As someone in the legal field, I find it also odd that something wasn’t said from the beginning.

No, Rose was never charged with a Federal Crime. The deceased MLB commissioner took it upon himself to ban Rose for life due to the gambling on baseball accusations. The pardon will allow MLB to vote Rose into Hall of Fame which he deserves. I never liked him but the All Time Hits leader should be in Hall of Fame.
Presidential pardons are for federal crimes. The MLB is a private organization, so I'm not sure how a pardon factors into it at all.

About time it was done. Rose deserves to be in the HOF

Valuable time spent lol. Btw why wouldn't you have done this...idk...8 years ago when he was actually alive and it might have any value whatsoever? 🤦‍♂️

Reminds me of when the TN legislature was spending time in 2020 to pass shiz to recognize Dolly and she had to ask them to politely get back to things that mattered during the worst pandemic in modern history 😆

Maybe Dolly should be in charge lol

Poker. Lots of scheming going on. My buddy's dad would scream "CHECK" and flip his cards over as we'd be about to raise him on the river.

Mr. McKinney was an OG Knoxville eastside guy, he knew all the angles 🤣🤣 He also turned himself into a pharma salesman...he had street smarts and salesmanship. He was totally BSing us, but it was all in good fun though. Then we'd drag his azz for weeks on playing like that knowing he was losing straight up. Now he's elderly and has issues, can hardly speak. But I can still see that smooth talking OG in his eyes. He never lost that inside him.

It does seem separate (maybe?) but he committed tax fraud.

Not sure if connected to betting on sports. Overall seemed like a seedy character.

"It's ok he knowingly committed a federal crime, because, y'know, he played ball good"...

Next comes Favre?

What we could end up with is schools could start forfeiting games due to losing too many players to other teams or their own players sitting out cause they are not happy with their NIL deals. This in turn would cause the other teams to have fewer games and TV would lose a lot of TV revenue. Maybe that would finally cause some change.
It’s already happened. Can’t remember which teams, but they declined a bowl invitation because too many of their players opted out or hitthe portal. The college didn’t have adequate depth to play in the bowl game. 😡
