As for Tyler Summitt. Kid made a huge mistake. It destroyed his dreams of coaching. But he rebounded in life. He married the player he had an affair with, and I believe they now have 3 kids, including a daughter named after his mom. We're all human. We all screw up. It's how you respond that matters in the end.
I got no hate for Tyler Summitt ...dont know the guy. I will say this though: his dad is a very successful (rich) banking executive, Pat made millions at UT and was said to be thrifty which she apparently left all at her only child...Tyler. he retired after working a couple years as a coach in his early 20s...
But I am flabbergasted that Pat was allowed to name her early 20s aged son as the beneficiary of her Tennessee state employees pension instead of her 60? Year old ex husband....so Tennessees pension plan is on the hook to pay Tyler $173,000 a YEAR for the rest of his life?!?! For likely 50 years or maybe even more? He may draw $10,000,000 off a pension his mommy earned? Thats like winning the powerball lottery. $250k a year for life OR X million dollars...
Thats insane. They need to close that loophole. Why would everyone NOT name their kid instead of a spouse? You would be a fool to name your husband or wife that is likely to die 20 or 30 years earlier. Never heard of that before. Thats crazy. Tyler is a trust fund baby. Lmao. I hope that with Pats dementia she never knew about Tyler knocking up his point guard while married to his childhood sweetheart. That would have hurt and shamed her.
Tyler Summitt also was designated by his mother to be a non-spouse beneficiary of her state pension. When she retired, Pat Summitt opted to collect a monthly benefit of $14,460, or $173,520 annually in 2012. That benefit, with an annual cost-of-living adjustment, is now collected by Tyler Summitt for the rest of his life. Pat Summitt could have opted instead to collect $21,141 per month, or $253,632 annually, without choosing a beneficiary, and the payments would have ended upon her death.
A News Sentinel analysis in 2014 showed that 2,861 Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System retirees who chose non-spouse beneficiaries and their survivors could draw almost $1 billion, assuming they all lived until age 80. Records showed some retirees had chosen beneficiaries as young as infants to receive lifetime pension payments. More than one-third of the 2,861 beneficiaries were younger than 40 years old at the time of the retiree’s retirement, records showed.
.For anyone wanting the story on Tyler and his mistakes. He does not coach now. Lives in Ohio. Is married and has a son with the former player. Lives basically off his mom's estate which might be the bigger travesty, but it is what it is. Adds some complexity to a quote of a once proud mom and makes it resonate with deeper truth too.

'We still feel the guilt:' Tyler Summitt, son of legendary coach, tries to move on from scandal
Five years after then-coach Tyler Summitt was caught having an affair with his point guard at Louisiana Tech, the couple are married and have a son.www.usatoday.com

Also...not excusing him, but folks made it into a bit more than it really was imo as well. He was only 3 years older than the player and they were married in 2018 (still married as well). A coach dating a player is never okay, but Tyler wasn't the first to do it and unfortunately won't be the last. They were both consenting adults.

I’ve done dumb things in life for sure! Sleeping with your own player gotta be one of the dumbest mf’n things you can do.
Wonder if the name was different and you looked at just the facts how Vol fans would judge this situation:
- named HC bc of who mom was
- cheats on wife with player
- lives off mom’s pension
I never made any judgement. You did though, would you change said judgement if it wasn't Tyler Summitt?
Thoughts about Pokey Chatman?
I think anybody in that situation is a dummy. Or at the very least an incredibly weak person that has no business in any type of leadership role.
Would be someone that I would always, 100%, question their judgment.
I completely agree.
But that doesn't change the comment I made, it was made into a bigger deal that it really should have (especially) locally BECAUSE of his last name.
I don't agree with him or anyone doing it. That's as plain as I can say it for you.
I also don't care about a millionaires son reaping the benefits of said parent's accomplishments. Out of my control. But nothing was done to me to forgive in the situation so no clue why you assume I've forgiven him anyway.

Feel like if this was a Bama story some of yans wouldn’t be so forgiving.
I know I quoted your post but didn’t mean you specifically. Just the first 2 posters I saw talking about it
Others have posted the numbers but this one defeats any of your ridiculous notions. Banks took us from the 90th overall defense to #8 in four years. That was done with recruiting restrictions. That’s ELITE. You can use conjecture to say other DCs would have done the same or better. But Banks DID IT.What data? Fool.
Prove me wrong?
Only thing I’ve said is banks is neither great or terrible.
You or anyone else hasn’t presented anything proving I’m wrong.
Because there is none!
What would you do? What if you fell in love with that player? Would you be too proud to live off her pension, or be homeless?I’ve done dumb things in life for sure! Sleeping with your own player gotta be one of the dumbest mf’n things you can do.

Yeah, they are. Real life, real emotions.I’d not bang my own player.
But if I were in that situation I’d go get a job and provide for myself like an adult.
Are these serious questions?
Random but judging by your screen name I think you know what I’m talking aboutI’d not bang my own player.
