Recruiting Football Talk VIII

When I was a young father and they said it went fast I used to think - it better, cause changing diapers sucks. Then it does and you just hope you did enough. I've learned to just enjoy watching them take these steps. From the literal first steps to all the figurative ones they take along the way. I don't have a boy anymore. He's truly a man now. Did it faster than I ever could.
A saying that stuck with me is that with our kids, "the days are long, but the years are short."

I've found this to be true. Enjoy every season of parenting. There are blessings and trials in all of them.

2. Tennessee Volunteers (6-1)

Nico Iamaleava was 14-27 for 194 yards with one touchdown and one interception and Dylan Sampson rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns as the Vols beat Alabama for the second time in 19 years on Saturday. The Tennessee defense held Alabama to 314 total yards and forced two interceptions. The Vols will have a much-needed bye week upcoming before welcoming in Kentucky & Mississippi State and then a huge match-up in Athens with Georgia that could decide one of the participants in the SEC Championship Game.
Week 8 SEC Power Rankings: Horns Down, Dawgs on Top

Bama's DC on the fake injury (paraphrased): "It's a tough situation. We tell guys to go down when they have an injury. We aren't able to substitute a guy who's injured when a team is going fast so we tell our guys if you've got anything to go down."

He clearly doesn't remember that the fake injury occurred after a TV break and the first play of Tennessee's drive 🤣

I love it. I know several Texas fans and they are the most delusional people I have ever met. They all thought the whole no "horns down" penalty would fly in the SEC, "it's illegal to taunt." The SEC is not only taunting but many times straight up assault. I told them they better get ready for a real culture shock.
I talked to one on Sunday and I told him to get ready because it was not just Georgia, y'all might lose three more games. He had a look of horror on his face as he considered it.

tea-sip (from the Urban Dictionary)

One who attends or attended the University of Texas (t.u.) in Austin, Texas.

The term tea-sip (also spelled teasip, t-sip, or t sip) was started by students of Texas A&M University (aka. Aggies) in the early 1900's to belittle the well-to-do students of t.u.

The University of Texas was traditionally the "rich" school which pumped out doctors, lawyers and the like. A&M was the blue collar school which traditionally taught Agriculture and Mechanics (engineering).

My note: t. u. students and former students are still called "teasips" by fans of other Texas schools.

Just pay them. Taking a HC job that isn’t in the big boy leagues is career malpractice. All your really good players will eventually leave to go to the SEC/Big 10 to get a bag, while playing at the highest level.

Check out how Golesh is doing at USF. You don’t get a big boy job when you’re 3-4 there.

Esp DC's. Cant imagine a DC being uber successful. The Vandy coach and Kirby Dumb aside, how many Charlie Weak, Gator/Cock Windbag Muschump, Brent Venadouches are there?

Teams fake so many injuries against us, they can't keep them all straight.

That’s why I didn’t understand Deboer being upset. I saw it twice, and I didn’t see us change personnel after bringing on the ones after the break. The announcers made a suggestion that we substituted, but I told the people I was watching with that it was after a break and why would we substitute?

USF was a combined 4-29 in the 3 seasons before Golesh. He went 7-6 last year. He’s not on the hot seat.

I get your point, but I think it depends on the school. You automatically turned down some opportunities, but some G5 schools are good opportunities. If you aren’t careful, that P4 opportunity may not come either.
