Recruiting Football Talk VIII

We had a VN copperhead post before the UF game again. @TN-POSSUM cry-babied around claiming the wasn't a "true" VN copperhead, because he had a few posts already. However, it seemed to be just enough juice to push the Vols to a win over Florida.

The Vols remain undefeated when a VolNation member who has never posted, or posted very little, makes a comment in here.

We're gonna need someone to step up and make their first post to insure a win over Bama!

My $10 has cleared $100. I'll be honest and admit my last bet was a -833 bet instead of -500. I'm guessing I'll get more and more chicken the higher the bet gets and very few will be under -1000.
Sam Houston gets me. Up 10-7 at home they were

Any comments about the flag discrepancy in conference play?
I bet fiu to win after they went up 7, and right after I did they lost their starting QB AND their backup qb. So I'm not in the mood to dive into conspiracy theories.

But in general, standard deviations don't begin to even out under a sample size of 20.

Kind of like my saying the universe conspired against me because 1 out of my 14 daily bets had a once a decade situation where both the starting QB and the backup qb got injured in the SAME FREAKING GAME.

Sample sizes matter if you truly want to make a case for a conspiracy. The data definitely warrants further investigation, but this would be a massive conspiracy involving dozens of not hundreds of people, and there's no way something like that gets covered up for over a year in today's day and age. So I'm still going with occams razor.

Weird feeling the offense looks much better this Saturday. I don’t know why, I think just watching the UF game again, so many plays were there. Just execution. I think if Heard just brings it every play he can hold up against Bamas lackluster Dline. Nico just needs to hit a big play early and think it’d instantly get his mojo back, it’s like a basketball player who’s in a drought, they just need that one shot to land to shake it off. I’m not saying we explode for 40+ but right now I’m thinking low to mid 30s and I think that’ll be good enough to win it with the way our D is playing this year. Bama may be the first team to break 20 on us though, the combination of Milroe/Ryan Williams being able to generate an explosive play anytime with the combination of our leader on D being out for the season…I’m just saying, if we hold Bama under 20 give Tim Banks anything he asks for.

Right now feeling Vols 31, Bama 23

Ryan Williams will be the reason McCoy and Gibson will be arrested for child abuse.
I sincerely hope that this game is where he learns what SEC football is all about.
I imagine a crossing route where as he touches the ball Boo Carter arrives with bad intentions and the ball pops up into McCoys hands. JPJ shellacks Milroe (legally) as McCoy outruns bammers to the end zone.

The rest of the game Williams short arms every pass targeting him as he tries to spot Boo Carters location.

The camera catches his horrified expression at halftime as Boo Carter tells him that he is a Freshman too!

will need to spend $$$ and pick up 3 experienced OL... gonna have to spend the money, but I have a feeling/hoping this staff, seeing how it's hurt us this season, will have a blank check to go get TALENT
really is crazy. not sure if its obstinance, laziness, or dont see it as an issue.

This staff HAS to get better with recruiting.

Crazy stat I just learned.

In game 5 of the Dodgers Padres NLDS, 8 million Americans watched. Which is the largest number since FS1 got the rights to the game in 2014

But the crazy stat is that since Yu Darvish, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani all played….

10.6% of ALL PEOPLE in Japan were watching the game. Roughly 16 million people lol

And the game broadcast at 5am on a weekday in Japan.

Happy Thursday. As a scout, we have a motto to "do a good turn daily." May everyone find the energy to do their one good turn each day, knowing they are planting seeds for a bigger purpose.

October 17, 2024: See that you do not become weary of doing good even when you feel used and unrewarded. Set your heart to know that you do not need accolades for doing what you have been given to do. Just give it your all, and know that you will reap whatever you sow. Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
