Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Yeah, that was a good game….came down to the last out & Vols fell short.
One of the best games I've seen. I hate that it turned out like that. But what awesome pitching. As Tony said after the game, "those were two rounders out there" battling. I just hope we come back at them and take them down today. It's a tall order, but it's entirely doable for our guys.

The announcer in the baseVol game last night said that was the second largest crowd ever to see a game at LSU. Then he added that the only larger crowd there in history -- at a long established baseball school -- was also against Tennesee recently.

Tennessee's presence may induce LSU fans to break their the all-time record tonight. That's a lot of corndogs.

The #6 Vols (34-8, 12-7 SEC) and #5 LSU (35-8, 13-6) play game 2 tonight at 8 ET on ESPN. (In case 52 hasn't already posted the game time.)

I thought to myself that Tennessee's presence may break induce LSU to break their the all-time record tonight.

This is like SEC Basketball. This is the MLB minor leagues

We don't really want them to start doing that, especially since we just did the same thing with Becht, Hoover and Altmyer. And Tate last portal. And probably many more.
We called everyone’s agents and asked if any of their guys were entering the portal. That’s not tampering although I’m sure it violates the spirit of the rule and I’m sure they knew we’d pay big for the right guy. If coaches had contacted players directly then it’s tampering. Not sure what Nick and staff did but if it was direct contact then probably tampering.

What if it was before UT chopped off NCAA's knees? Weren't there tighter "rules" then?

It was easy to make fun of the media acting like Sheduer was an auto first round pick. Dude had glaring holes that Cam Ward did not have.

But at this point I think anyone can admit it is no longer about talent. Jalen Milroe and Dillon Gabriel should in no world go ahead of a guy with 40+ TDs and a 70% completion percentage on a bad team.

It's at the point now, you can just pick him and the second he becomes a headache you can just cut him. 4th round picks get cut in training camp every year. The only reason he wouldn't get picked very soon today is if Deion starts threatening a holdout, hoping for a better deal as a UDFA.

Ya know…just thinking about draft & Sanders.

He could end up being elite. He’s done all he’s done without being coached by anyone but his dad. If he takes coaching well he for sure has natural talent and could really be special.

Or Disney could do that for Deion. It looks like that's how it's unfolding.

That's the exact meaning of tampering. We also tried negotiating with Hoover, Becht and Altmyer through back channels If a player isn't in the portal, it's Tampering. No matter who is contacting him. We do it and so does everyone else. Unfortunately, you have to these days

My eyes tell me we won that game 10x out of 10 if Dean doesn’t committ 2 turnovers back to back. That simple for me. It was the worst game I have seen us play. Worst for a player too. It warrants a shuffle. Jmo.
It's mental for Curley at the moment. Last night double clutching and extra crow hops because he was over thinking the throws. Maybe let Curley DH for a few games and put Bargo at 3rd, Antigua at SS, Kilen at 2nd and Fischer at 1st..

Yes the rules were tighter bc there would’ve been no agent to contact. I also think we were careful to simply ask “is your guy considering the portal?” Or something similar. I don’t think we had much to do with loosening the rules. That’s more a function of wide open transfer rules, collectives operating like PACs (for a candidate but not technically working for them), agents and the loss of credibility the NCAA has been suffering for the past 20 years.

What we knee capped the NCAA on was newer rules applied to the “follow your state law” era of NIL enforcement. Basically our injunction was to keep the NCAA from enforcing new rules ex post facto and even that is a far from settled case.

Asking “is your client planning to enter the portal?” isn’t the same thing as coaches contacting players or contacting players directly. If we said, “we will give you 5 mil to get your guy here” that’s a whole other thing but despite reports from player agents looking to get their guys raises by throwing it out (Gundy style), I doubt we went beyond the first question.

Yes sir. I do and I will. Not trying to self treat just trying to do what i can 1st as I spent a ton of time and money with a podiatrist with my fasciatis and the guy never truly helped cure me. He just dumped me into protocols that made him money. It was my own exploration that helped me to permanently heal and move past it. That experience really had me rethink my role in healing my body. No disrespect to any of you professionals because you have been more educational than that Dr ever was. Hope that came across appropriately.
Yessir, totally understand.

Also the Lakers should have traded Dalton. They literally won't play him. I get his defense is not great, but he's a lone guy that can make.it up on offense. They need to trade him and let him fly somewhere that will use him.
Ain't no one's defense in the league good. You've got the media and announcers whining about when the games end up being 95-85...talking about this was a low scoring affair.
