Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Whatever people think about Elarbee, I actually think we upgraded the OL. Just my opinion. But Sanders is an upgrade at RT, and the two transfers are solid in the middle.

The OL struggled at pass blocking early last year but continued to run block well. While Elarbee may not be the best in the conference, I just have a hard time saying he's awful with the results we have gotten so far.
Agreed though, I do wish we'd upgrade at several coaching positions (Hazle).

I am just not one to know. I know people are all over Pope, but he's had a Biletnikoff winner. Then, during this Nico mess, someone put together a highlight of Nico's misses in big games. Our WR's were wide open multipe, multiple times. I mean....3 yards open.

The play calling is partially Heupel.

Here's what you are trying to determine today and that is what's real and not real. Agents are going to spin this to their favor for their client.

So if you leak it out that Tennessee reached out and your guy stays then your client just upped his stock with people by being loyal or he got a nice raise.

So what is real. Who is really willing to move. Who are their serious discussions with? I think this idea that dozens are lining up to come here is an over reach.

if you didn't know that the quote was about our transfer QB adventure, you could attribute that to any of our coaching searches

agents using Tennessee to get their clients raises... first page of the playbook

I 100% agree with this.

Heard should be better.
Sanders is going to be a really good one.
Moe was a top 50 guard in the country last year as a sophomore.
Pendleton was one of the best FR/RS-FR OL in the country last year.
Then you've got a lot of our recruits just hitting that RS-SO / JR sweet spot to start ramping up in playing time.

Of all positions, I'm the least worried about OL right now. I think we're set up well there for a bit.

Even Liangelo Ball has a net worth over 2 million and is signed by Def Jam records. Lavar has done an amazing job with his sons.

Yeah honestly he’s an incredibly supportive dad. He’s just too eccentric for a lot of people. He didn’t try to ruin his sons’ careers like Big Nic has and they’ve all become successful. He rubbed me the wrong way at first like for some but in the end his kids have all achieved their dreams and he believed in them the entire time and pushed them to do so.

The first rule is to stop digging. He still hasn’t realized he’s lost round 1 and round 2. Nic gonna lose the entire war if no one stops him.
I haven't heard anything from NIco's side since this all happened. He doesn't seem to be digging at all now as the ground shifts under him.

I don’t think Elarbee can recruit well or develop his own talent. It is year 4 now and he’s yet to have a recruit start. And all the chatter was that we got Sanders despite GE, not because of him

I can only look at the ratings of the guys we have brought in and kept... with that data someone must be working their ass off to recruit OL talent because it's here.

He has brough in starters, but so far you're correct we've not seen any of the HS recruits earn starting jobs which is a concern I've had myself. This year though we should have at least 2 out there. Satterwhite at C and Sanders at RT

Projected starters

LT: Heard (year 2, originally portal add)
LG: Moe (year 1, portal add)
C: Satterwhite (year 2, HS recruit)
RG: Pendleton (year 1, portal add)
RT: Sanders Jr (year 1, HS recruit)

So valid criticism that other high rated OL recruits aren't starting and we've got 3 portal guys out there...but also that's what you said you wanted so I'm a bit confused why this OL with 3 portal starters isn't going to be above average?

We also win the arkansas game if one of Popes horrible receivers could catch at all. It goes both directions here. Nimrod was horrendous and they wouldnt let Mike on the field over him.

I had a feeling Nico had a new spot lined up before he left. There was just no way someone could screw that situation up that badly. The no contact makes sense.
Oh they did screw it up that bad. You think that had it all worked out? "Yeah we got school x lined up for half of what we would have gotten with UT. Sounds like a solid plan."
