Thanks for posting! First off, how exciting is this?! For the first time in a while it looks like we have SEC quality and depth across the board. I know we’re all excited to see CRGs unit get after it. Offensive Line is going to be a strength. And I’m less worried about the depth there than in years past. The QB position is obviously exciting, and Nico will not be short of quality pass catchers. The injury bug seems to always be the concern, but I’m hoping less so this year. The only unit that looks susceptible to decreased production if that were to occur is the DB room, and hopefully the front 7 being what they are takes the pressure off the back unit.
Never had a ton of thoughts regarding the depth chart release but I have a couple so:
1. Observation: So many ORs. Maybe too many? Or is it a good thing? Nobody is on the same level of JP Jr and yet the depth chart at that position is him or _ or _ or [true freshman]. RB is a 5-OR position. Sampson is the starter there. Maybe it doesn’t matter but it would be nice to see less ambiguity amongst who the starters are going into a season where the talent is there and the lone question marks seem to be not amongst the starters but rather the newcomers and those needed to take a leap in development for us to be our most successful team.
2. RS Fr Max Gilbert over RS Jr JT Carver is interesting.
3. Do not like seeing Jermod McCoy on the return depth chart. With DB being our biggest question mark, I’d hate to see our best guy of the bunch possibly get injured on a special teams play.
4. FS is the only spot that is concerning imo. Skepticism about WB has been talked about enough and CC has not seem to put it all together after like 6 years here. That’s a spot we really were looking forward to seeing Jordan Thomas stake a claim and with him gone the depth chart still makes it seem like that’s a big question mark. Hope one of those guys erases those questions in a good way.
Going to be a great season yall! I’m licking my chops at our biggest games. Oklahoma being a true coin toss will be exciting. I believe they could lose 5 games this season and it’s not due to lack of talent. Should be a wild atmosphere. Hope we bring a large faction of orange to Norman. I think Arkansas might put up more of a fight than expected but I expect us to win by more than one score. I am knocking on wood hoping I don’t regret this next statement as I have in the past, but I think we take care of Florida without question. I think they have more talent than people are giving them credit for, but I also think this years team is not going to be handcuffed like last years. I expect us to open the playbook and I expect Nico to not succumb to the Florida woes. I think he and the team light them up in the first sec home game and set the stage for a top 10 matchup with Bama the following week. Bama is a coin toss I think we can win. Regardless of Saban being gone they still have plenty of talent and they will be well coached. Last year we had them beat easily in the first half. Some home cooking and they end up beating us by more than the actual difference in play. Had we not been taken out of the game by a few plays/calls, it could have been another classic. If we win it will likely be a close game and I’m looking forward to being there in person for it! I watched the 52-49 game on tv and will always regret missing it in person. Outside of this games and uga I don’t see anything worth mentioning on the schedule. We will take care of business. Uga is a likely loss and I almost don’t care with the expanded playoff. If we have 2 losses out of uga/bama/ou, I don’t see how we miss the playoffs. Let’s go Vols!!!
