Recruiting Football Talk VIII

What bothers you more, the heat or the cold. . . or neither? I don't mind the cold once I'm actually moving around. . . but at least with the cold you can put some extra layers on to warm up or use a gas heater. If it's blazing hot, you're just gonna be hot, šŸ˜‚ . . . anyway, construction sites seem to be colder or hotter than it actually is for some reason. I think it's a brain trick. When you go in a building, your mind is conditioned to think it's supposed to be cooler or warmer than outside.
If I’m working with my hands, the cold bothers me the most because it’s hard to work with gloves on your hands. If I’m doing a lot of walking, or crawling, or climbing the cold is the best. I really hate the cold in general though. Winter is lifeless and sad to me. I enjoy wearing less clothes, sunshine, grilling, warmth, skin tone, and vitamin D. And the good health that comes with heat. In winter I just drink and eat too much. Overindulge.

I can't argue at all if that's what they wanted. I'm in their corner on most of it. I'm undecided on the contract demands.
0 evidence of contract demands as far as I'm concerned.

More like "Hey coach, what's the plan for this offseason and next year? Would love to see upgrades to the offensive line and passing game." and bored media members turn that into "Iamaleava's are demanding . . .!"

He’s not as good as he thinks he his and differently not worth what he’s getting imo.
Well you're just a ray of sunshine this offseason aren't ya?

Not sure there's many freshmen in the country we could've thrown out there this year that could have lead this team to a win over Bama and get us into the CFP. Yes, the defense helped us win a lot of games, but Nico made a lot of clutch plays, incredible throws, and didn't turn the ball over like most freshmen do.

He's not just getting paid for his production.... he's getting paid for his potential. And he has the potential to be one of the best QBs that's ever worn orange.

Good rule of thumb is to never listen to Caleb Calhoun.

But also it wouldn’t be surprising if a QB’s family wanted the QB to throw the ball more. Seems like common sense.
Oh ok so you think this is no big deal. Cool. I don’t like it. Nico did nothing to deserve a raise. And if his dad starts getting involved more, I don’t think its a good thing.

Caleb is a douche but it doesn’t mean he is wrong.

You think that’s all it would take?

I think the Titans would have the drivers seat and demand a little more since he would want his son really bad.

I think the Titans could rob them if they wanted.
Titans would hopefully rob them. They'd definitely have to take more than Dak for the #1 overall, but the Cowboys would also be stuck with a $103M dead cap hit so they may be resistant to doing that. Screenshot_20250113-215834_Google.jpg

We had the 4th highest revenue football program behind uga, bama, tamu only a year or so ago. Or was that recruiting budget? Maybe I’m confusing them.
Revenue is different than NIL, at least for now. 247 had TN estimated at an 11.6 mill NIL roster which they ranked at #15 - Texas was #1 with a 22 mill + NIL roster.

Even if (and when) college football goes to revenue sharing with a ā€œcapā€ athletes would still be entitled to go get their own marketing deals - like the NFL.

At some point, major college football and basktetball will be forced to adopt a version of the NFL/NBA - teams will be franchised out from under the university umbrella.

Just read the other day the Tesla S Plaid is now. 9 second quarter mile šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«
Yeah faster than a corvette and handles and stops like your dad's suburban. That'll pucker a butthole. Deaths in Teslas are higher than most manufacturers because you can exceed your skis faster than most people take to sneeze.

Titans would be getting a player that just signed a $240 million dollar contract over the next 4 years coming off surgery. $231 guaranteed BTW..

Rob them of what a extra 4th round pick.? This wouldn't be a Herschel Walker trade but maybe you're too young to remember what I'm referring too.

Edit: Shedeur can always pull a John Elway or Eli Manning and say I'm not playing for you guys no need to draft me. League wide...

And my question still remains, are paying for lesser talent because that’s all we can close or is our budget too low to sign high profile guys. I still don’t think it’s the latter. We’ve done a good job closing on a lot top DL prospect with Rodney Garner and QBs with heupel, not so much the other positions with the occasion 5 star like Matthews and Sandrrs. I dunno

Titans should focus on building their trenches and sorting out a competent backup QB to teach whoever their going to draft or pickup next. The rest follows imo. When you start throwing all your hopes into one pick with no pieces you just rinse and repeat failure. Trade the #1 and wait for the Nico/Manning draft. That one will likely be a good one.

Panthers need a damn Dline now that Bryce is coming around and the oline is.making some steps.

Why even post since you’ve got it all figured out?
Because I want to.
Why do you post?
You got more of a right than me?

Why do you respond to my post? It’s not a requirement, you have the right to not respond.
Feel free to do so if my post bothers you!

Still taking a risk on him.

Missed 90% of 2020 and this obviously this season. Not sure how much I trust him holding up.

I’d ask for more if I was the Titans.

Combination of a number of things in my opinion. Don’t think that some of Heupel’s staff are great recruiters, closers and/or evaluators of talent.

Garner is perhaps the best position coach on Heupel’s staff - he is an excellent recruiter and has earned his stripes in the business.

What development from Elarbee has you so confident that one of the worst left tackles in the SEC will just magically improve in one offseason?
Like I said Heard got better as the year went on. He played most of last year hurt. Try answering my question. Heard is very talented and Elarbee developed our highest drafted OL in what 20 years?
