ya'll remember a few weeks ago when we got a playoff berth and got whipped in every facet of the game, by a bigger, stronger, faster, complete team? Got a lot of work to do and a long way to go to beat a team playing like that... Wonder what our coaching staff took from that whipping?
I am hoping they wake up and get to work in the portal and the recruiting trail... Especially after the mass exodus of players that seems to keep building by the day...
So far (we still have playoff teams that could have players enter and there's a few descent ones left, or we look at the spring portal, but that will be players who are finding out they aren't going to cut it or start, so mid talent) they seem to be asleep at the wheel, or want to pay McDonald's prices for filet mignon...
Very disappointing so far, especially with how far and awesome this staff has taken this program... from the ditch to the fast lane with a playoff in four seasons... I am hoping in the offseason our coaches wake the F up and realize everyone's figured out our basic offense, make some huge adjustments and add wrinkles, make much needed changes to staff so that we are developing the talent we are getting properly and to the fullest, actually go get the talent we need and pay the price, and for goodness sakes, either get a new DC, or explain to him that he actually needs to make adjustments before, during, and at the end of every game for the following week based on the opponent...
I am hoping this doesn't turn into a tease of a run and we fall back into a mid to B+ program who wins 8-9-maybe 10 games once in a while and goes to a nice bowl. We will see sooner than later. Other teams are stacking up their empty shelves with the talent they need... will we? So far, not so good.
I have been a collective member since it started, have had season tickets, etc, but with the inflated ticket prices, "talent fees", ridiculous concession prices, and what seems to be a "meh, we're good with who we got" attitude at this point, I'm not down with throwing any more money away on a program that's not interested in doing what it takes to get to a championship level.
First basketball game attending in TBA mid Jan, can't wait!
You said basketball is elite, as if football isn't when we have 2 top-7 finishes in 3 yearsNone of this disproves what I said
The funny thing is if the last game had been (rightfully) played in Neyland vs Penn St, none of these reactionaries would be peeing their pants.
Just so happens we landed the worst (by far) route of any playoff team in its 11 year history. In 15 degree weather. And at night. On the road.
And the snowflakes burst smdh![]()
Listen… I don’t consider anything you’ve said an ‘attack.’ We have differing opinions and you can’t help but to make things personal. I have a wonderful wife and 4 kids who bring me a whole lot of joy, and I am not going to be bothered or busy with arguing with some random on a website. I hope God blesses you in the coming years.I know as much as I need to about you to make that conclusion based on your comments. If you don't like people attacking you for the things you say, then say different things.
Kids enabling universities to make literal billions weren't fairly or justly compensated for years. The fact that you think those decades of unfairness surrounding the game you attend and enjoy have nothing to do with justice or fairness further reinforces my opinion of you.
We’re not elite in football. Swain said that on his show today and he played. I’ll trust his opinion over yours. You said basketball is elite, as if football isn't when we have 2 top-7 finishes in 3 yearsand bball has...1 Elite Eight?
It's also opinion which is more favorable - when other sports are also highly scaleable. Do the math on baseball vs football, it's ridiculous.
But to act like we aren't elite in football but are in many other sports is silly when football is as good as any other sports outside baseball (and baseball was at the same point before the championship too which just shows how fast perceptions change...)
I'd probably kick @TN-POSSUM in the junk if I had to watch squirrel jump to catch a perfectly thrown ball again. . . but, that's something that can be coached out. . . makes me wonder if we have an issue at wr coach, or maybe squirrel didn't listen to the coaching and it was easy to let him leave. Thanks to Squirrel for all he gave, but man I am excited to see Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley with more playing time.
