Wow!! Clay is finally catching up to what I have been saying for two years.

Once all the legal stuff clears and mega conferences are a thing, the SEC should (eventually) be able to pull UVA, Va Tech, NC State, Duke, Louisville, Clemson, Miami, FSU, Ga Tech and Wake

I’m sure a couple will go to Big10 but the $ is too good here

March 20, 1954..................The inspiration for "Hoosiers"
The following account of the 1954 state championship game appeared in
The Indianapolis Star on Sunday, March 21, 1954.

By Bob Collins
"Bobby Plump drove a jump shot home with three seconds remaining and – just like that – the “Mighty Men” of Milan became high school champions of this state. Muncie Central was vanquished. The score was 32-30.

And the game well, it was one of the greatest this state tourney ever has seen and the Butler Fieldhouse was a madhouse as the final gun sounded last night.

What a night for Milan. Not only did this school, with an enrollment of 162 (73 boys) become the smallest school to win this title since Thorntown licked the field in 1915, it now is the only school ever to win and still get a mental attitude award recipient.

The Trester Medal kid was, of course, Plump—the mightiest Redskin of all. The award gave Robert a grip on just about everything but the fieldhouse doorknobs. He also was the best scorer in the semi-finals and finals with 81 points – the last two of which will not be forgotten in Indiana for years.

Milan called time with 18 seconds remaining and not one of the 15,000 souls in the fieldhouse doubted that Bobby was going to shoot. After Milan threw the ball in, Plump took it in midcourt and started the slow drag dribble, his face an inscrutable mask. With eight seconds remaining he cut to his right and headed for home. It was the tried and proven Plump formula. Three steps down, lean forward, fake pull back, jump and shoot. With a great deliberation, Plump jumped cocked his right arm and watched the ball sail through with just three seconds showing on the clock.

And Cinderella marched proudly off the floor her slippers intact and her coach – a shiny Cadillac – in no danger of turning into a pumpkin shell."

Gene Hackman was wonderful in the movie.

He is against it unless it benefits Alabama
He is against it unless it benefits or would have benefited him. He's bitter about being pushed out and worried about his legacy. I think he is somewhat indifferent or subversive when it comes to Alabubba, if he was really concerned about was what was best for Alabama he would drop out of the picture for at least a while. There's a lot more talk about Nick by Alabama people than there is the current team. He's making himself look like an arse by poking his nose in all the time.
Nick is like the guy who leaves his ex-girl at the party and keeps coming back with lame excuses so he can see who she's talking to. "Nobody believes you really forgot your keys/jacket/cigarettes Nick."

So, I just completed my bracket for our company picks contest. My Final Four: Tennessee, Kentucky, UCONN, Arizona. Got our Vols whipping the Cats in the rubber match and UCONN over Arizona, and then the BIG ORANGE finding a way to whip UCONN. Yep, I have been a Tennessee fan boy for over 50 years now. :) Go Vols!

Does this indicate that basing your team almost completely on Freshman is not a formula for success, no matter how talented?

They should just put all of the teams in an association, divide it into regions, and have them play 12 or so games. The top 2 teams from each region should play to determine the regional champion.

The winner of each region should then be placed in a bracket with the other regional winners. Each time you win a game in the bracket you get to play another team that won, until there is only 1 team left. The winner of the final game would be the association's overall champion.
