That wasn’t the 50’s! Best TE in this most recent draft was Sam LaPorta by the Lions…second rounder. Go back every season and you see a similar story with that position. Bowers benefits because he was a focal point of two straight NCs and he delivered. There’s no mystery. But if you’re a faulty team he’s a waste.
Agreed on that last line.

But the last ten years has really seen the TE used differently in college and the nfl, so I think Bowers will go a lot higher because of how his college team showcased him and how nfl teams showcase TE now. Pitts is a more recent example than Gronk and Kelce.

It's a certainty. He's perfect for that stage.

Yeah, in theory...the theory by KenPom being the better refs get more games and the bigger games.

Last KenPom ranking I saw he was top-15. Think he also got the FF a couple years ago (11 refs get the FF).

Sup fellas. Mostly just lurk here in the RF and participate in the occasional "worry circle" but I actually have a question i have asked before elsewhere and nobody could ever answer so....

Does anyone know whats going on with WR Nathan Leacock?

He was the highest rated WR in his class at UT....75th ranked recruit OVERALL from the Raleigh area. Tall, fast, and expected to contribute obviously with a ranking that high. But he seriously disappeared. We see Nimrod, we even see Webb from the same WR class....but never see Leacock. Ever. Did he get hurt? Have a family/personal problem and need time away from football? Hell even practice squad guys like Jancek get snaps when Leacock does not. Thats not supposed to happen with a high 4* kid ranked 75th in his class. It just isnt. Dude has been a ghost since he got here but I havent seen anyone that knows why?

Also...I get that sometimes guys and especially WR are "late bloomers" and arent ready to contribute until they are upperclassmen. Even Hyatt didnt really break out until his Junior year. I get it. But Hyatt saw snaps as a Fr/So and we heard and read little things about him hear and there. Leacock has had none of the above. Does anyone know what's up with him? I had really high hopes for the kid from over here in NC...I still do. Hopefully he breaks out soon and is a factor in our passing game? We just brought in 2 beastmode WR in this 24 class though that would seem to be pushing him further down the depth chart?

Well I want Cowboys to draft a LT, RB and LB .

Running back could be a FA pickup but I don't see anyone who would sign a 1 year bonus incentive contract.

BTW whose the LB who was on IL all last season? Read they got high hopes on this guy..
Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma is the latest hot name.

MarShawn Lloyd from USC is moving up a lot of boards. Caleb Williams doing Superman stuff didn’t help his buildup.

Overshown?

There could be any number of reasons. We don't tend to rotate a lot on offense so the QB and WR communication is huge in this offense IMO. The WRs that the QB feels the most comfortable with and feels he can count on will likely see the field more. Could be that Milton was more comfortable with others. Maybe Nico and Nathan will form that bond and he sees the field. Other than that, who knows except the coaches.

Maybe college but the NFL has valued a receiving weapon at TE for more than two decades. Tony Gonzalez, Shannon Sharpe, Dallas Clark…Antonio Gates?

Sure you can. Gronk and Kelce were both second rounders…Kittle a fifth. He’s a beast for sure…but a luxury pick.

Edit: Aaron Hernandez was a fourth. Every one of those examples were selected by personnel guys who stressed value on their board…and followed it to the T. Don’t get me started on Jason Witten’s draft and the one’s selected in front of him. Bowers is a certified cheat code…but he’s a final piece to an almost complete roster. You pick him and your OL is garbage? He’s holding back more for protection and you’re spending a significant portion of his rookie contract playing catch up.
That's a killer of a 4th round pick.

Not a fan of that line of thinking. OL is the most important unit on the field I think. Nobody else can be successful on offense if they're not.
TE can best of both worlds. There is a reason it was always a high priority position in the draft for the Pats when they were so dominant.

But they ALSO had their OL set and Belichick was always dealing for second or third day selections to replenish and spend on final pieces. Didn’t hurt that (like Peyton) Tom Brady valued that target and they acclimated quickly.

Obviously, you got the premier spots: QB, LT, and pass rush. But I think TE is in that next tier in regards to value. If you can get what you see as all pro talent at that spot when you don’t necessarily see it at the big 3 positions, I think you go for it.

Especially if Henry is gone, Titans will definitely need offensive playmakers. Probably actually got needs all over the field. In that case, I think you just go for best player available regardless of position.
