Recruiting Finish Scenarios

After getting huge commits from both the Gaddy brothers today, it looks like we may have approx. five spots left in the 2017 class. Assuming that is so, and assuming there is no shuffling between now and signing day (though we all know there will be), which five remaining targets do you want most?

I like:

RB Ty Chandler
RB Cam Akers
OT Trey Smith
ATH Jacoby Stevens
WR Jerry Jeudy


My thoughts on these five:


I'd like to see us sign both of these backs. We need them as both Hurd and Kamara are likely gone after this year, and I think both could see significant carries right away.

Three of these five are highly-rated Tennessee guys which we need to try and lock down as a matter of principle, regardless of positional needs. The coaches seem to have backed off of the "lock down our borders" principle, somewhat, so far this year.

A top WR is a must, imo


Other Questions:

Which five (mine or yours) are we most likely to get?

If we run the table this year, or come close to doing so, what are the chances top rival commits (like Higgins) whom we are still recruiting rethink and go with us in the end?

Which of our current commits are most likely to get bumped if we run out of room and a bigger name wants in?

Jeudy and Stevens defintely won't be Vols unless something huge changes.
If we only get 5 news guys it will look something like this IMO.

Gibbs, Smith, Chandler, Payton, Foster with a decent but unlikely chance at Akers

I would have liked to seen McKenzie and Hayden part of the class. Looks unlikely at this point.

I think we need to be patient before worrying how things will finish out. We have the whole season before us in which I expect many players who are not even on the radar yet will come into play. If memory serves me correct, players like Tyler Byrd, Khongbo, and Marquez Callaway weren't recognizable names on this board until November.

Like many I don't expect us to keep some of the players we have committed, especially if we have a great season and a lot of players become interested. I think around 4-5 will leave..some on their own merit realizing they will have a hard ladder to climb or want to leave for a hometown team and some who will be pushed to the side and eventually see the writing on the wall. Hopefully we have more of the former than the latter..

Regardless, I think we take in around 27 this year, give or take one or two. This means that we have quite a few spots left even if we keep everyone we have committed

Right now we have to encourage these guys who are undecided to get a visit in during the season and watch greatness unfold. We shouldn't come 2nd rate to teams like Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia, but viewed as an elite program. We must get these recruits to visit Bristol and home games against Alabama and Florida.

My top 5 targets right now are:
1) Ty Chandler
2) Trey Smith
3)Justin Foster
4)DeAngelo Gibbs
5)Cam Akers

After this list, then we should encourage Jacoby to hold off on making a commitment and waiting to see us play in a big game(it would do wonders if we could beat Alabama with him in the crowd)

Other guys who I think will continue to show a growing interest in the vols as the season progress include. (This doesn't account for the 3-5 who I think will pop up on the radar come Novemeber)

No, it is more than just your opinion, and feelings. History and odds say your prediction is not exactly showing off any psychic abilities, so Madame Renee out near the airport is not fretting your competition.

Yes, count on changes and late drama right up to signing day. And if DeAngelo Gibbs is not a part of this class, I will be surprised.

I think we get Cam Akers and I wouldn't count out Wade. Other than those two big names I think we miss on the others.
