Recruiting Discussion

I am going to speculate here and say that once Wiseman relocated to Memphis and begin playing for Team Penny and Memphis East, Tennessee is not allowed in the picture to recruit him. This is probably a situation where handlers, shoe companies, AAU coaches are all involved so the Vols won't be able to recruit him. Thats JMO and is all speculation but its probably something like that.

This would be absolutely correct. Its fair to say that Wiseman has a "handler" and Barnes will no longer recruit players that have what would be perceived as handlers. Barnes certainly would when he was at Texas but he no longer plays that game. On the football scene Coach Pruitt certainly will.

I am surprised There has been very little talk about recruiting as we know it changing at least for the shortterm. Any shenanigans is going slow down significantly. I expect Barnes to get into the mix much easier for the big name guys if he chooses to do so.

Just have to be careful not to recruit players that participated in the shenanigans. Would hate to end up like UofL or Auburn and recruit guys you can't play.

Same here. That’s why I made that goofy thread a while ago, I think it should be easier to land some big names after some of the dirtiness is cleaned.

The number one point guard in the class of 2019, Ashley Hagans just decommited from Georgia and he was considering UT at one point and he would be a nice addition for 2019.

Think we've got a shot at landing him?

I’ll be interested to see what Tennessee does...he immediately becomes one of the more coveted guys in college basketball. Tennessee only has 1 spot open and has recruited Simons and is also recruiting Harris, so not sure they’ll add another name to that list, but we’ll see.

You have to think we'll have more attrition than just Daniel graduating -at least a 90% certainty. It'd be a great time to have at least two spots open.

It won't surprise me if nobody leaves other than Daniel. JJ hasn't played much, but he's a RS freshman and he's had an injury.

Every player in the 12 man rotation has had an opportunity with meaningful minutes in games. Barnes has been going about 10 deep in every time out and it's not always the same 10.

The team chemistry is really good. There will be more opportunities for the 9 underclassmen as the 3 juniors graduate.

Every time I watch the games the kids on the bench all seem invested and like good teammates with good chemistry, like you said. I think it's cool. I don't know if it means anything for attrition, but I'm very happy to see our bench guys all out supporting the team.

Not sure Tennessee was heavily involved in the end, but Khavon Moore picked Texas Tech last night.

Tennessee was slow playing him and then once he broke his leg pretty much quit recruiting him, seems like all attention is on Simons and Harris. Fwiw a lot of people around Simons say if he goes the college route it’s going to be Tennessee, now obviously that’s a big hurdle, but sounds like NC State didn’t impress him much.

Yeah, I knew we had been in on him at some point, but towards the end, not sure there was much mutual interest. At least not that I could find. Will be interesting to see if we get involved with Hagans now, too.

We shifted our attention toward Simon and Harris more than Moore. Aa for Hagans early word is that look for TWWWBTN to be heavily involved with that recruitment

From what I have read UT blew himbaway and that NC St was meh for him. I have read the same that if he goes college it will be the Vols. Also read that we would like to add Harris as well. Not sure about room but Meyer and Ramey are still saying 2 for this class
