Didn't they hire his coach or something like that? I forget the connection... I do find it weird that you wouldn't tell, you'd say the same if someone else came in and said it. I'm still thinking it's Isaiah Hartenstein or Jonathan Jeanne though. Leaning towards the latter now since you said 6'11-7'1.

Assistant coach David Patrick is Ben Simmons Godfather. Patrick played with Ben's father in Australia.

Send the drones, hidden cameras and microphones, CIA ops to Turkey to uncover this mystery.

I am hoping we see a Piper Perabo Covert Affairs episode made about this hidden gem.

BTO, your boy played good against the Nets, I see him applying for NBA Draft. Hope Tennessee can get him.

Ben Simmons dad played for a guy that's on the coaching staff and they ended up being best friends and He's Ben's God Father

BTO, what's with the secrecy? The post from the war room makes it sound like the staff is keeping the kid's name under wraps. If that's not the case, why not tell us who he is?

Yup, averaged 6&6 in 13mpg against NBA opposition at only 17 years old, more than held his own.

He's definitely gonna have some pro options, the way I understand it he either has to spend another year over there or come here for a year, he's not eligible for the NBA Draft until 2017.

That would be a possible great break for Tennessee. Barnes is good at player development and can show the guy how he has put post players in the NBA.

Okay, now I've figured it out. So, they can play in the professional league there and be eligible to play NCAA ball here? Isn't that the reason Enes Kanter couldn't play at KY.

Yes they can play in a professional league as long as they weren't paid more than a certain amount iirc, I believe you're allowed to be paid something, but I could be mistaken on that part.

If they can pull this one off, it would be pretty amazing.

Yup, but definitely not even close to a given. As I've said he will have profrssional options over there, and if he chooses the college route he will likely be the most sought after recruit in the country this spring.

Understand. I'd have to say less than 5%, although if they took the time to fly over and see him, there must be a twinkle of hope.

It's a long shot, but this is the kind of play they should be making. Everything else they've done has looked incremental. This is evidence they know they need to do something dramatic. I commend the effort.

No doubt, and as I've mentioned before there very well may be a connection there that we are unaware of.

Lofton, J. P., Tyler Smith and Wayne Chism have all played in Turkey in recent years. There could be some link there. For all we know, one of them may be some kind of cult figure in Turkish basketball, kind of like Jerry Lewis in France. :matrix:

Whatever it takes, adding him makes the NCAAT next year a possibility IMO

I apologize, I guess I should've said nothing at all, I get the frustration. This staff likes to keep some of their recruitments quiet for whatever reasons, other outlets aren't reporting this players name so I felt like I shouldn't either, you can take that how you want and bash me if you see fit. Again, I thought I would mention it as it brings something to hold hope for for next years squad, but I do get the frustration from posters as well.
With the information you've provided, you may as well have given us his name.

What would posting his name here do? Absolutely nothing. His name will come out eventually, I want to post it, but out of respect for you, I won't :hi:

For those interested, he's on this roster. DraftExpress wrote an article on him.

Barnes obviously doesn't want it out there which means right now we are probably one of a handful of teams coming after this cat. BTO knows who it is and isn't putting it out there. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that?

Sounds like Rob Lewis is doing the same.
