Recruiting Discussion

that would tell me that the Tennessee job is really a crap job and CCM along with Bruce did amazing things with the program. CRB has big job to do

Or maybe CCM finally closed the deal with some recruits instead of finishing second like he did so many times here. He also hired an ace recruiter to his staff.

Cuonzo was very close on several top recruits while he was here. He just couldn't tip the scale. Maybe the sweet 16 and a better staff was the answer.

I assure you it's not because Cal is a better basketball program than UT.

Oh not trying to be an ass, trust me, trying to help you learn something maybe you aren't aware of.

All I'm saying and I see a lot from you, maybe try looking up the information elsewhere before asking here. I mean I found a lengthy article about Jaylen Brown by typing in quotes "Jaylen Brown" recruit and went to the News section of google. Every article written in the last year about Jaylen Brown and the word recruit would show up.

Aren't questions asked because you are looking for an answer? Imagine finding the answer without depending on another person's restated opinion. Thats all.

Ps. It sucks that online communication has no voice tone or body languages to influence communication back and forth. I bet I look like an ass on here lol.

I wasn't talking about you, I like you lol.

Its not that hard to recruit to Tennessee. We have great facilities, a great atmosphere, and the greatest fans you'll find (crazy, but great.)

Is Rick Barns putting forth the effort needed in recruiting to land top talent? Do we have a burned out Rick Barns? I sure hope not!!! But, we are getting beat bad in recruiting but the other new sec coaching hires. Gators have signed or have committed 3 four star players since new coach was hired. Bama has signed or have committed 1 five star and 1 four star player since new coach was hired. Miss State has signed or have committed 1 five star and 3 four star players since new coach was hired. We have signed or have committed all three stars. Now these 3 stars could be great. But it does not look like this staff is not very good at recruiting. Too Early to be sure but it does not look good at the start of his tenure.

Yet coach after coach continues to struggle to bring in top flight talent. Barnes hasn't done it, Tyndall didn't do it, and Martin did very little with players from outside the state borders.

Pearl recruited well, but was also super-successful right off the bat, and he had, by far, the most engaging personality. Thise are two key components to being a successful recruiter.

Tennessee, right now, is very much a product of its own dysfunction. All the facilities, atmosphere, and fan support mean nothing if a player feels he's walking into a toxic environment, and that is what we have been dating back to 2010 and the Pearl investigation.

We are going to have to establish a sense of security and stability, probably hit on some lower rated guys who become solid 4-year players, and have some mild success on the court before we start reeling in top-50 players again.

Recruiting to Tennessee isn't as easy as you believe, and never really has been, but since you were born into Tennessee basketball fandom during the Pearl era, I can see why you might think that.

Yes, the program has been in dismay ever since pearl, but it's been proven you can recruit to Tennessee. Tyndall proved that in a way, and hopefully Barnes can figure that out.

If it wasn't for this whole fiasco, we would love Chris Clarke and romelleo white in 2016. Awful better than just bone. And while Tyndall was here, goodin was high on Tennessee.

Clarke's dad said the investigation had nothing to do with his decision to decommit, no?

Martin was close to landing Looney, Lyles, J3 and Nichols...how well did that serve him?

I'll bet whatever you want that Barnes recruiting class this year is much better than Tyndall's.

That's bull and you know it. Close but no cigar. We had them, if it wasn't for the mess up at so miss. When did they commit? That's right, they didn't.
