Recruiting Discussion

I know Vincent Price and Mongolian fleas are important, but does anybody have any idea who we might be targeting for that last '15 scholly? Thanks, and I'll hang up and listen.:hi:

It's been discussed...right now it looks like the staff is good holding it for 2016, depending on who else becomes available that could change.

So, what do you think about our roster as it stands in this present stage?

A lot will depend on how players have progressed, if Punter has become a great ball handler and can play some point, if Punter has found consistently and can be a 13ppg a night guy, if Hubbs takes the junior jump McRae did and is a 15ppg a guy go to player, if Moore has developed an outside shot, if mcghee has improved his game and build, etc...

Right now, going off of what they were last year, I think it's a 16-18 win team regular season. I don't think we will be hurting inside as we were last year, but I do worry about our permiter game and scoring ability. I think it will be key with Turner, Hubbs and Kasongo's athletic ability to get out and get some fast break points, because in the half court we may struggle a bit to score.

I like the current roster make up, but the 2016 class is pivotal in the direction of this program. There's some good young talent, but the fact is this team needs about 2-3 top 100 guys added to it, and another 1-2 promising prospects as well, if Barnes is gonna have Tennessee competing in the SEC within 2-3 years as most are hopeful of.

So we have 5 scholarships available for 2016?

And I agree with your points but we better hope we can stay healthy down low with only 4-5 post guys on the roster.

Yes, as of now, 5 open spots for 2016.

Staying healthy is always key.

Reese, Moore, Alexander, Masongo and McGhee...that's better shape than last year IMO

Far and away better, than last year! I felt like we might have won a couple of more games last year, if Jabari hadn't gotten hurt.

Yeah, I pretty much figured "the hay was in the barn" for this recruiting season, but the linked article in another thread, stated:

' Still, the head man may add one more newcomer.

“We’re getting close to having the roster we plan on going with,” Barnes said, “so it’s time to get down to work
.”'

So, I am asking: If we are not allowed to take a graduate transfer, is anyone left on the board? Would they not already be available?

It's possible they're talking to a few guys, also possible they're aware of 1 or 2 guys that are gonna ask out of their LOIs, this staff works quietly

Sounds promising. If Barnes is the coach at TN that he was at Texas there should be improvement in all players..

Just my personal opinion, I would hold the scholarship unless an undergrad transfer becomes available who's a difference maker. A guy who would come in, have to sit out a year, but is pretty much a sure fire starter once he's eligible next season. I think a big man, or a wing would ideally fit this mold.

I know we weren't on their recent lists, but the big guys from Providence or Nc State (Washington & Chukwu) both come to mind.

How about Canada Prep?

Eli Wright is a name for '16 I just saw we are showing interest in, and after seeing some film I would love him in Orange.

Also has anyone seen the name Victor Dukes? I thought he was a big time recruit for this class...did he fall off?

It may have been posted already but I haven't seen it if that's the case. Are we finished with recruiting for 2015? Thanks in advance.

He'll get some attention later. He's a solid player.
