That isn't saying much. I used to love his show, but it isn't what it used to be anymore and he's a clown with no credibility anymore. It might be the best "show" in town, but that is an indictment of everyone else IMO.

Lol. It's a great show. People take it too seriously. It's a fan show.

It's not John and Jimmy. It's a show for fans to talk sports.

He's not a beat writer. He's a fan.

I listen to Basilio's weekday radio show here and there and may play a show from the archives that I missed. There's some good info and talk about the Vols IMO.

His post game shows in both sports are pretty good. Much better after a win of course. :)

The post game shows after a win are great! It's crazy how much heat he gets on this forum considering he has given so much attention to hoops over the years while it has been ignored by so many other shows in town.

He doesn't like Barnes. Big freakin deal.

I like ziti

I like tony b

Maybe they are the same guy...

Basilio is hung up on a top 100 rated recruit needing to be signed. Actually I'd say his issue is probably a personal vendetta. Barnes probably won't give him the time of day. Same deal as with Pilot Travel Centers no longer buying his remotes. He lost that account and now never passes up a chance to bash the Haslam's influence on UT coaching hires or the management of the Browns. He never said those things when he was doing a remote at their stores every week.

I think that Barnes being selective with the #100 to #250 players will pay off over grabbing the leftovers in the 50-100 range. Calapari said that he has more problems with those guys than his higher rated recruits because they think they're future lottery picks when they aren't even close.

Hiring Wade two years ago, with the shape that TN's program was in, would have probably ended his career. The experience that Barnes brings is exactly what is needed to keep TN from going through another decades long downward cycle.

Yeah but how much longer will CRB be here? Atleast he got Pons for us.

If Barnes gets the program back on a solid foundation then the next coach will have much better odds at being successful. Barnes will leave a roster filled with well coached, experienced players and hopefully it will be a smooth transition with Barnes staying available to advise an up and coming coach. It's doubtful that TN will ever hire as big a name as Barnes ever again. The next hire will be a less experienced coach with a lot of upside potential. If the next coach comes into another rebuilding situation they will fail like all of the others have.

Barnes got Williams, Walker, Johnson, Fulkerson, Darrington, Daniel, Schofield, and Bowden as well as Pons. The roster is not the disaster that Basilio chronically preaches it to be. Actually I like what the roster is evolving into. It's starting to look like a great opportunity for a very highly rated recruit or two to come on board.

Nice to see somebody else "gets it" about Barnes. When he retires we'll be thankful we had him here to restore sanity and discipline to the hoops program after the destruction begun by Bruce and continued (each in his own way) by Cuonzo and Donnie-boy. In the future we'll be in very good shape to attract an attractive young coach with a history of success to move us further up the pecking order. Rome wasn't built in a day and UT hoops won't be rebuilt in less than 5+ years, but with Coach Barnes at the helm, we'll be just fine in the long run and starting this season we'll win our fair share and then some. :)

A few of the vocal minority don't understand that, or don't want to.

Good posts. I really don't understand what some fans expect. The program went through its own version of what the football program went through. It takes time to restore it and CRB is the man for situation. We are not going to be able to go grab one and doners. CRB is doing it the way that is available at this time, which should be enough to get them into the tourney regularly as the program is rebuilt to a higher level.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Please show me that Basilio's show brings more listeners than any other station in Knoxville?

Or I don't know what I'm talking about with him bouncing around? He's changed stations multiple times in the past 3 years, you don't think there's a reason for that?

Who said anything about numbers? It's the best show. You wanna use numbers then you go dig them up.

You don't know what you're talking about. You just proved it again.

You said best radio show in Knoxville as if that's a fact, actually it's your opinion, and I'm saying the numbers don't support that opinion...sorry that seems to offend you Tony.

As for the next part, so Tony has been on the same station for the last 3 years, that's what you're saying?

I'm saying per usual you have no idea what you're talking about. I'll let someone else clue you in on it.

Stick to coach worship and being a recruiting apologist.

What's the earliest signing period for 2019?

There will be 3 or 4 spots to fill. Need a post and a PG to replace Alexander and Darrington. This guy is needed to replace Schofield and to backup Johnson. Not a bad recruit if he has skills and just needs to bulk up.
