I'm beginning to wonder how much college basketball he's actually watched. The Pearl years were great and yes the atmosphere was as good as it's been in the modern era (too young but I've heard stories of how Stokely could rock), but even then it wasn't the "best atmosphere" in college basketball.

I agree. DAD was a death sentence for basketball at Tennessee.

Lavar Batts, a '17 guard from Team CP3 (NC), has cut his list down to Oklahoma, Clemson, Florida St, Nebraska, Georgia, Butler & VCU.

2017 List:

#19 Nick Richards
#47 Jermaine Samuels
#83 Abu Kigab
#88 Alex Reese
#103 Victor Uyaelunmo
#125 Isaiah Stokes
#127 Tyler Polley
#149 Michael Durr
#164 Raiquan Gary
#185 Ibrahim Doumbia
#204 Brandon Huffman
#254 Victor Enoh
NR Chase Johnson

VQ saying Tyler Polley has emerged as a very serious target for this staff, and as of now look for both Polley and Uyaelunmo to be here for the Florida game.

Also mentioned that the staff feels good about Stokes, and there is some talk Jarnell is planning to return to UT and finish his degree, so you'd have to like that development if it were to happen.

Wish he could come back and finish his senior year on the court. Lmao

UCONN has offered Polley. Marquette and Louisville are close to offering him as well.

Can't find much tape on polley, he's pretty athletic from what I've seen though. Needs to gain more explosiveness. He's slow with going up.

No way we get him in my opinion. He's got too many other school offers already. Would be nice to have a legit 7' though.

From what I have been told we are one of the ones that are recruiting him the hardest.I do think we have a legit shot at him and would not be surprised if we landed him

This is a refreshing sign. Lets hope this continues.

2017 SF Jermaine Samuels was offered today by Kansas. Tells @SNYtv Xavier, Indiana, Tennessee, Villanova working the hardest

Good to see, will be interesting to watch that one play out. Hard to see the staff willing to oversight and take 3 in the fall, but Samuels may be the exception to that thought if they can land him.

So to reset a bit IMO...

Top targets: Jermaine Samuels, Victor Uyaelunmo, Isaiah Stokes, Tyler Polley, Raiquan Gray and Chase Johnson

Secondary targets: Ibrahim Doumbia and Brandon Huffman

Not much of anything going on with: Richards, Kigab, Reese, Durr or Enoh

So going forward with the 2017 Target List it will be...

#47 Jermaine Samuels
#103 Victor Uyaelunmo
#125 Isaiah Stokes
#127 Tyler Polley
#164 Raiquan Gray
#185 Ibrahim Doumbia

Why not on Richards? Do they feel they have no chance?

So, with a coach like Barnes it is almost imperative that he have at least 3 four or five stars in the lineup in order to have a half-way competitive bb team similar to Florida or Texas A&M, whereas an above average guy could coach up 3 good three and a couple of four or five star guys and be able to make the NCAAs.
