Recruiting Base = 6 NFL draft picks

3 of UTs draft picks came from Middle Tennessee and 3 came from Georgia.

Both of these are most essential and core parts of the country that have to be Tennessee's main priority to locking down the best talent they can. The whole state of Georgia is ripe with talent and UT has always done well there.

Georgia needs to be top priority second to NOW Middle Tennessee area.

With the population BOOM in and around Nashville, Middle Tennessee is now a hotbed of D1 talent. "Locking down" the state should be UTs main focus. Next Georgia and other surrounding states.

I wonder if this is the first time in history 3 Middle Tennessee Natives were drafted (especially from same college team)

This makes me proud of my State!

There were more than 3. Corn Elder (Ensworth) and CJ Beatherd (BGA) were also drafted. May have been others, knew about those off the top of my head.

I did say 3 and knew of the others. Should have said at least 3 (from the same team)

Thank you for clarifying....

Your point furthers my opinion about the importance of Middle Tennessee....

Corn Elder should have been a Vol. I know he went to Ensworth. Is he originally from elsewhere or Tennessee Native?

However, being a life long Middle Tennessean, 55 years, there is a new dynamic to the area that did not exist 10 years ago. There are now at least as many implants as there are natives. As a matter of fact natives are harder and harder to find. These implanted citizens bring their loyalties and passions for other colleges with them when they arrive... Much like the greater Atl area

Actually, if the football gods and lady luck had smiled on Tenn, Hurd, Kamara, Barnett, and Malone would all be coming back plus about 10 who fell to attrition. Look at that line up and tell me how you would feel about 2017

I haven't been in Nashville in awhile, but I live in Atlanta, and that does sound exactly like Atlanta. Nashville in the 2010s has become what Atlanta was back in the 80s or 90s.

Metro Nashville and Metro Atlanta are BY FAR our most important recruiting areas. With some of our coaching changes, I think Butch had those areas in mind. :clapping:

I live in Atlanta as well. I totally agree (I'm from middle Tennessee). Atlanta is like a new Houston or New York. It's huge and exploding still. Can't wait to paint the city orange when we beat tech!

Population growth is not limited to Nashville - both Knoxville and Chattanooga has grown considerably as well. Those areas may not get as many implants with growth being more organic. The mid state area does seem to a do a better job at showcasing the talent - which seems to be typically a benefit of the larger cities.

This poster is exactly right. These transplant kids bring their loyalties (and those of their parents) with them when they move to the Nashville area. Some have zero loyalty to the State of Tennessee, much less to the Univ. thereof.

Of course, if they have SEC talent, they should be top targets for Butch. We have missed out on too many in-state studs these past couple of years

I think Vandy had 2-3 drafted Zach C. and an OT for sure. I also think MTSU had one or two drafted (could be the booze) and Memphis had a kicker taken. Where these guys are from HS wise IDK.

In a couple of years there will be several that we missed out on that went to other teams like Vonn Bell, and Jalen Ramsey did.

Not only does the midstate "showcase" its talent better.....it actually has much more talent than Knoxville and Chattanooga....combined

say what? I do not think there is a question in anyone's mind outside of yours had Hurd finished this season and went to the draft he would have been drafted first or second round AS A RB. I also have no doubt we would have easily won the SC game and Vandy.

People do not think about the huge mental impact him leaving the team the way he did affected this team. He basically quit in the middle of the game.

The interesting thing though is that this does not translate to dominance where it matters, state championships.

Hurd played in the SC game.

The problem in the Vandy game was NOT offense.

Hurd played in the SC game.

The problem in the Vandy game was NOT offense.

And why is he switching to WR if he could have been first or second round as an RB coming out of the SEC?

Maryville and Alcoa have more talent than anyone combined. Look at all the state championship trophies. Although their past glory has faded a little of late.
