Where most people (fans admin coaches players families media (myself) etc) always go wrong in recruiting and evaluating at any level is pride. Thinking that I know better than anyone and everyone else. Simply not true. In reality, we are all kinda guessing and hoping our decisions and opinions are for our best interest. What if the best interest is bigger than you? Some need to get over themselves and live outwardly (myself included!). Lock in on the person in front of you and love them well. The selling point of UT is and always will be national exposure. This is bigger than any person. National exposure is collective and probably got started mainstream with our particular university by a man named Robert Neyland and his staff/ideas. You come to the University of Tennessee, people are going to know you if you play and dare I add, make plays, you will be noticed. The problem has been the ladder. Players that make plays. We now have a group that MAKES PLAYS. And I credit Pruitt and Co for that JUST a little, but they would never have been able to pull in the players and develop the talent they have wanted if not for the brand. The name. The tradition. Tennessee has and always will be a PRIMETIME destination. I’m not comparing UT to any other program and don’t you do it either. Compare us to us. WE ARE THE STANDARD IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

Recruit the best players you can get. Develop them to be better than anyone else could have developed them. Teach them to play well together. Win games... and repeat.

Proving you can win is HUGE. Kids want to play for winners. That's why Jones' recruiting soured. He lost games he should have won. He squandered talent. Recruits were watching.

If Pruitt outperforms the level of his talent... talent will be easier to get in the future.

In the process, they want to and become winners.

And yet, year after year, we were told that boy butch was some kind of great recruiter-some fans almost passed out when they said his name as they thought he was so great. Eventually reality set in for many (let's face it, there are still a group of boy butch lovers) and he's now shining cars in Alabama. For me it is about results, improvement year after year, is a sure sign of a winner. The 2020 season is CJP's 3rd year, I'm sure we are going to see a huge improvement in the wins-nothing else really matters.

I never got the vapors over the name of the horn blower.

I never watered the bamboo when Rommel bombed Pearl Harbor.

I never rode the Lane Train.

I remain hopeful now that the Vols have an actual coach. Time will tell.
