Recruiting a worry

recruiting is weak, even with the bad start very disappointed. Wiffed on most our big names really, butch jones staff recruited better. Way better...no way we break top 15. I don’t even see us chasing the 5 star talent this year.
Yeah numbers aren’t everything but we are not recruiting well at all right now. We may be better next year but prob dip again. Pruitt needs results next year or may get worse. I hope to be proven wrong and they cobble together a respectable sec class. Just sucks to be 9 or 10th in sec

Lots of triggered internet warriors and snowflakes over a factual post. Recruiting is right where it needs to be if you’re ok with losing to fl, bama, and Georgia every year and having a 9 win ceiling. Enjoy delusion

I actually started the thread to get a legitimate discussion going, is anyone capable of respecting others views anymore? Thanks for the replies with actual opinion so that I can learn more. Jesus

The five seasons 2013-2017, FSU was 3rd recruiting, USC 6th, AU 7th, ND 8th, TAMU 9th, FL 10th, Clemson 11th, TN 12th, OU 13th.

I have said it before, Wisconsin has never broke into the top 25 recruiting class and they have been doing pretty well the past couple decades. It is all about being able to identify potential talent and coaching them up. 4 and 5 stars are nice but not a true measuring stick of how well a team is gonna perform.

Not many folks care what happens on this site, I don't think. Fans and the Coaches care about the recruiting class and about wins and losses.

I don't think a few sunshine pumpers on a fan message board have much influence on that.

I wish there was an emoji with somebody pumping sunshine out of a well up somebody’s arse.

Wisconsin in the SEC is Kentucky. Terrible example.

Did you see Butch’s last class? Lol... Even the 2 good classes Butch had how many of those players even stayed in the program?? Why you ask? Bc Butch was an idiot. Couldn’t even win the East when it was basically handed to him.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP COMPARING PRUITT TO THAT MORON. Pruitt is doing just fine. We’re not gonna land every 5 star we go after.

How so, Wisconsin is ranked every year always avg. 9-11 wins over the last two decades. When was the last time TN could say as much? Tell me again, how this is a bad comparison? Are you saying that the last decade of UT teams could beat Wisconsin on any given day, you might want to try again. Wisconsin handles themselves pretty well the few times they played SEC opponents, better than most of the UT teams in the past decade. The point is, with mediocre recruiting Wisconsin still remains relevant in the Top 25 which is more than I can say for our Vols.

You might get more legitimate responses if you do just the bare minimum of research before you post something. Your comments about how we are ranked right where we should be if we want to be beaten by team<blank>. If you don't understand how the recruiting rankings work, then ask. There are several on here that do really good research into the math behind the rankings and they can give you true insight. There are dozens of threads with hundreds of posts discussing this topic and you posted without reading any of them apparently. Having a view is one thing, reacting negatively when people point out that you should have thought out the OP a little more doesn't help. My post earlier was harsh and I apologize if it was hurtful, but there is a plethora of the same type of post where gloom and doom is the goal.

Half the stars bitch recruited left the team on never reached their potential. Wisconsin is doing it year in and year out without big names Nebraska in their glory days of the 90 didn’t have stars everywhere just tough kids that wanted to play ball

tOSU top 5 recruits just killed the Wisconsin 3* guys. Neb had help from the chemical, and now don’t get by with it.

OP, I’ll buy into what you are saying. Jones actually did recruit pretty good, but never developed many players. That is why many of his players in the NFL are there as undrafted FAs. Kamara was a 4*(or 5*) bust at Bama. Buried on the depth chart so he transferred.
Now on the other hand, I-see 2 ways to recruit. One like Bamawhere you get the best of everybody. The other is like Clemson. They recruit the best at critical positions (DL, QB, and WRs). Then build the remaining team around their strengths. I think this is Pruitt’s pattern for now. Linemen and LBers. Hopefully later he can start cherry picking every position.
Just to clarify. I think Tenn is improving, but I‘m not getting carried away because they beat 2 teams that have only won 3 games each. Both in 6th place in their respected divisions.

Nah. We need the right kind of players. I don't buy the star gazing. Gimme a staff that knows a player when they see one. I see Jennings as a perfect example. He's not going to dazzle anyone with his forty time or his shuttle. Still, the guy has a passion for the game. He'll fight on every play. You could play him at qb, wr, rb or safety and he'd still impact a game. We just need to nail down the targets in state. If we have any openings, I'd still like to get another big back and maybe a grad transfer or juco qb for next year.
Yep when our recruiting is average for sec people say stars don’t matter. Heard it for years, see where we are. Stars matter in the sec

Don't really enjoy emojis in general....most definitely don't have a desire to see rectal insertions in emojis in particular.
How about one that shows the vaporization of a member of the sad, cliche-ridden clan for using the word "sunshine" and a variation of the word "pump" in combination?

Welcome to the forum.

I would suggest you take a look at the recruiting forum for a better idea on recruiting.

It’s more about difference makers. That’s why Clemson beats Bama 2 out of 3 times. Their recruiting rankings were never close to Bama but their great players were better. For example our last years class is better than its ranking because we have several difference makers. You then have to surround them with solid players and coach them up. Only about half of any signing class is going to do much and that’s true of any school.

Is signing high school kids nearly as important as it used to be with the new transfer rules? Let them get bigger, stronger, faster and then transfer to us!
