Sounds like Pruitt knows he just doesn't have the personnel to run smash mouth right now. If this is true it is encouraging that he is willing to mold his philosophy to fit with the team he has. That is what good coaches do. They don't try to fit a square peg in a round hole.
Really stupid huh?? Tee Martin was a QB coaching WR at USC. Lou Holtz never played football and he was coaching. Many coach positions they do not play. But to help you, if you had ever been a part of a program you would know that RB are coached by the OC. The RB coach position is a recruiting position. RB's do not need coaching the same as other positions. Weinke was brought here to recruit and he has IMG connections. The problem is his connections that allowed him to coach at IMG was that he owed them money and that was the way he used to pay them back. He has really been little to no benefit.we have a qb coaching rb's.
How is that pronounced? Smartah tah? What is more confusing is that Bama evolved too starting with Kiffins tenure, who also evolved and modernized his philosophy. Pruitt is probably a better pure football coach than Smartt, but Smartt was smart enough to bring in an experienced and proven OC and let him do his thing. This will be Pruitts downfall if he chokes on this hire.

No he dont have the personnel right now. He took over a team recruited by Butch Jones. Who tried to run the read option. Thats what this O-line was recruited for and in the weight room for. Only time Butch Jones looked good as a coach was when Josh Dobbs was the QB.Sounds like Pruitt knows he just doesn't have the personnel to run smash mouth right now. No way he gives a name. The guy made a generic statement that could apply to anyone hired.
A kid committed to Auburn one time because there is a Chik Fil A on campus. When you say no way he gives him a name then I am assuming you are referring to Pruitt and recruit. When you say "The guy" I am assuming you mean the recruit.
I stand by my post. If an offensive recruit is willing to commit to a school without knowing who the O.C. is going to be then I question the recruits intelligence or guidance. A recruit should know who the O.C. and his position coach will be and how said coach will improve them as man and athlete. That is basic, bottom line information when choosing a school. I would not be happy with well, your new O.C. runs an open/spread offense. Unless of course I am not that sought after and just trying to get the best school offering a full ride. Very few exceptions.
