Receiving corps best in nation?

If J. Hunt comes back 100% will our group be the best in the country? It's hard to imagine we wouldn't.

1. D Rogers
2. J Hunt
3. Rivera
4. Dallas
5. Croom/Bowles (hoping they can contribute)
6. Neal (would have been much higher but I think he splits duties)
7. Clear
8. Z. Rogers

With a high level of returning starters I can't imagine a better corps. If ZR can start catching the ball no defense has the personnel to match up. Thoughts? Are my glasses too orange?

I like Rivera but at this point hard to put him in as #3 on best receiving corps in nation

1 and 2 are strong - the rest not so much - 4 is a soph who did ok as a fresh - 5 are freshman - 6 is a converted RB that could very well go back to RB - 7 is a backup TE that hasnt done anything at this point - 8 well that one should be obvious

best starting WR combo in the nation - maybe - best receiving corps is a bit of a stretch

Good point but what team could match our 1-2-3? I agree with your Rivera statement but as a combo package with the first two he(Rivera) is solid. Can you name a better 1-3? Btw, I dont intend to come off the wrong way I would like to know. Throw in Neal/Dallas and our top 5 would be hard to match. This is not even including freshman potential.

Just imagine how good our receiving corps would be if ZR could catch a cold. I mean seriously he would be an All-American if he could catch worth a crap.

He runs the best routes on the team gets separation better than any of the other guys and is not only fast but fairly quick. If I was Bray I would move in with ZR and get his hands right. DaRick and Justin are gonna be what they are gonna be, great, but if they can unleash ZR with those 2 and Rivera and Have Neal as a threat also. Well, in that case watch the F out world.

sorry got busy at work - first i dont think neal will be at wr after spring, i also dont think dallas has shown enough to be in this convo, i like him and am not suggesting he should have at this point - but just hasnt shown enough to be in the convo

my 2 that i would put ahead of Tenn would be clemson and USC

If dwayne allen comes back to clemson then this one isnt close - if he doesnt they still have DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Jaron Brown, and Charone Peake at WR

Here is their stats last year

***** rec yards avg long TDs
Sammy 82 1219 14.9 65 12
Deondre 72 978 13.6 50 5
J brown 31 406 13.1 29 4

Id also say USC is hands down better at this point - they have 2 good TE's and 2 excellent WR's

Here is their stats last year

***** rec yards avg long TDs
Woods 111 1292 11.6 82 15
Lee 73 1143 15.7 59 11
Telfer 26 273 10.5 44 5
Grimble 15 144 9.6 36 4

To put this into perspective our entire team only had 18 rec td’s last year – Darick had 1040 yards, 15.5 and 9TD’s - Rivera went for 344 yards and 1 TD

i am not saying these are the only 2 but I think they are clearly ahead of UT at this point - i hope Jhunter comes back healthy and rivera progresses and at that point i think we can compete to be a top receiving corps but after you get past Jhunt and Darick there is not much there and Jhunt is coming off of an ACL

They sure have the capability to be very good. Im torn though, cause I wouldnt mind if Bray just threw for 2000 to 2500 yards as long as we can RUN THE FREAKIN FOOTBALL.

Please don't say torn, in a thread about Tennessee receivers...

Da'rick and J hunter feed off each other.Take one out the other becomes the primary target of defenses. Comparing last years numbers can be deceiving. With both on the field coordinators can't double team both at the same time.Numbers will go way up with both in the field and even more so with a serious third option jmho.

I agree here. Our numbers would have been similar/better if JHunt is healthy. Rivera would have had great numbers if not for JH injury. They were still good but without safeties helping on Rivera his numbers could have been better.

I'm more excited about croom...nobody in the conference has 3 dbacks big enough to cover hunter rogers and croom...beasts move in packs...excited to see pig in the slot though.

Woods is better than any WR we have. Marquis Lee is also a hell of a player for them. I'm sure they have other bigtime players on the depth chart. Oklahoma has Jazz Reynolds, Kenny Stills and some other guys (Browles graduated). Texas has bigtime WR's next year too with Marquise Goodwin, Darius White, Mike Davis and Jaxon Shipley.

If we get Patterson then we could compete with USC for the best WR's in the nation.

Hunter was one of the best I have ever seen before his injury...I doubt if he is back to 100% mentally and physically before mid season and may never be!

Robert Woods makes USC. He is easily the best reciever in college and people gameplan around him. I don't know how good the other recievers would be without Woods.

Woods is NOT the best. I would argue DRog is as good and Huntee could be better. Teams gameplanned against Drog too.

Add Pig Howard to this list cause he will definitely contribute imo. Not to mention its very possible that we land both Q. Davis and Patterson. We will take both if they want to sign with Tennessee.

It pains me to say but USC might be better than us.

Hunter and Rogers both have first round talent. Clemson plays in the ACC nuff said.

Patterson and Davis would definitly put us over the top.

I really like where we sit with Patterson, and he is believed to be a UT lean at this point. Which anything can change in recruiting obviously, but I think we land Patterson. We're getting Davis on his last visit so that's obviously great news for recruiting, unless we turn away his commitment and from what im hearing that will not happen. Room will be made for both if they want to be here. So my NSD prediction is we land Kirven, Patterson, and Davis. I believe we hang on to Santos too.
