Who has been getting most the reps at slot in the games? BJ? I used to think we'd be good at that position with Byrd a few yrs ago. But I just don't think he will do much of anything now. Its a such a mystery as to why he's nonexistent. I was hoping to see more Jordan Murphy too. He seems to have great hands--and I thought he might of been a real sleeper. His HS tape was good. I'm not sure about his speed but the hands are there. I guess maybe blocking has something to do with it too? Also--I don't think Calloway is a dynamic return guy. He's got hands and a bit of speed/strength but I don't think he's built for returns. He's just kind of tight--doesn't look comfortable in that role...but maybe we just don't have a better option?

If we had a better option for a returner they would be in there. Also it’s hard for any of our receivers to be existent with the Oline we have. JG doesn’t have time to find the receivers. I think the only time Byrd comes in is to block pretty much.

I don't like our 2 of our starters.....Johnson and Palmer except Palmer does well on deep balls. DB's can play those two tight where they lay back off of Calloway 'cause they don't want him getting behind them. My top 3 are Calloway, Byrd, and Jennings. Palmer and Johnson have good hands but have difficulty getting separation. Would like to see what Williams and Tillman bring to the table.

We dont have a good WR corps. Nobody that can really stretch a defense, get great separation or run great routes.

I would like to see TN to go back to being the best screen pass team in the country. Our receivers block as well/better than the line and we have some good backs if they get some space.

Byrd doesn't have a single reception through 4 games.

I think if we were to do more rollout passes, our receivers are good enough to catch the ball in stride and get some YAC. We just don't have the OL for JG to do the 3-4 step drop back. Gotta do some different strategies to get that ball out or get some time.

Im afraid that's the case with several positions on this team, the best option is not too good, unfortunately

We’ve got some good receivers but I don’t think we have a game changer. Until we get a guy like AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Mecole Hardman, or Jerry Jeudy I don’t think we’ll see a very explosive offense.

Your observation about Byrd answers a question for me. What I wonder is, with all his speed(?) and what seems to be ability, why is he not being played somewhere? I am really thinking he is not "buyin in". The moves they tried in the off season didn't take long to fall through. A player who looks like they could do a fair job anywhere should take more than a day or two to not work out. I think his attitude may be keeping him off the field. We all understand what this coach and staff say about effort.

Our Qb's are moving back away from d lines as fast as the can already. God help them if we allow d-lines in any faster. Qb's would need to turn and run as fast as they can to save their ass.

Thet can't drop back 3-4 steps... Then how the he-- are they going to be able to run well enough on a rollout pass set up?

You may be right about not buying in completely. However I have heard Pruitt complement Byrd on several occasions on the CJP show. He said he has done an excellent job blocking, I seen somewhere where we have ran the ball 95% of the time when Byrd come in, which is kind of tipping your hand in my opinion. Also he said he has done a good job on special teams. Perhaps his route running ability and catching isn’t up to par? Either way as of now he is simply a role player which isnt All that bad. Every team has role players that tend to stay in the shadows and don’t get put in the lime light.

We needed to move the pocket left or right, so many times in the Florida game.

Make their defense run. Give JG more time.

I hope we run some counter plays as well too. Florida over pursued every play and killed us.

I have never seen a play like this on, line everyone on the right side of center in both the line receivers and backfield, then run a sweep left with everyone other than the QB pulling left. That might work on a 3rd and 1 at the 1. I know, just try something different.
