Reasons for the loss

I'm going to express my opinions why we lost to USC....

1. Players played really bad - Dobbs passing in the dirt over and over... turnovers galore....
2. UT has lost too many players - it just adds up.... losing Kamara really killed us... guy almost single handedly beat Texas AM...
Losing Danny O. And Kahlil hurts our line and defense right up the middle...
3. Debord didn't figure out how to get Dobbs to run.... you gotta use what you hv.... he needs to run
4. Online getting worse this year...can't pass protect.... worst in SEC... non mobile Qback cannot survive behind this online....I can't believe we cAnt recruit better online than this....
5. Depth on this team is really just not there...last season Peyton said depth was our biggest problem... we still hv the same problem...the recruiting is just not there and that's why our depth still is not SEC level

6. When Dave Lawson was there for 3 straight years most of the injuries happened to the other team.... guy leaves and we're the walking wounded unit.. possible that Lawson was really much better than some of our coaches and his loss is immense....this strength guy needs to go....
7. Nobody is talking about this but when Carlin Fils-Aime hit that ball outta Dobbs arm what was he doing? Looked like a clear sabotage to me, like he was playing for the wrong team... I've never seen a play like that in my life....
8. Why doesn't Butch hv a long ball
Field goal kicker?? A dude that can
Just kick 60 yrd shots that is a punter ?? Get a soccer player with a boot?


I posted last season that we would be 8-4 and then 9-3 this year. It it would take 2-3 more years before Butch will hv the players..... but now im worried that next year might not be any better but may. Be worse bc we are losing so many players to graduation and NFL...

We may finish up this season ok but next year Butch will be on a very hot seat....
Butch needs to get an incredible recruiting class this year to save his job for next season bc that seat is going to be a raging inferno....

I agree that online has regressed, I could submit the first 30 threads about Tennessee football as proof.

This game was 100% on coaching. Plain and simple. The team looked unprepared, slow and lost on the field. Massive mental mistakes. Whats the worst part? Butch should have noticed going into halftime that the gameplan he had for this game wasnt working on both sides of the ball and made major adjustments. Did we see that? Nope. They came out in the second half still looking bad.

Butch was responsible for this one.

I'm proud of dobbs....kid come out and manned up and took responsibility for this game like he should have....I have never seen him play that bad...even when he was a freshman he played better than that!!!....I mean he threw every pass either in the dirt or to the other team!!!!...and there is not a coach in the country that would have benched him and put dormady in....should they have?...IMO yes they should have...but...butch chose to go with his boy...his starting qb...I mean he's been cluth in so many other games this year esp appy st, fla, and how could anyone forget the ga game???...should butch get all the credit for this loss??....no doubt he should get some of it cause he's the coach but I blame dobbs for this one...and if I'm butch then I watch dobbs the rest of the year and one more screw up then that's that I give dormady a chance and if he can't do it the give it to the guy after him....this team needs a consistent qb that can throw at least 20 yards without throwing at the ground or throwing an interception...jmo...flame away...vote trump not satan...and finally.....GO VOLS!!!!

Dobbs said after the game the play where he fumbled was a run pass option. Which means Carlin ran the play right, Dobbs didn't fake the run. He just tried throwing it which caused the fumble.

Carlin reached up for the ball, which is not how you take a fake.

It appeared to me UT's oline did a good job in pass protection. Dobbs had much more time in the pocket than USC's QB did. Dobbs just couldn't take advantage. Plus, practically every time USC tried to rush the ball a wall of UT defenders met him at the LOS.
It was obvious watching that UT was just stronger and more skilled than USC's players. Just like it was obvious when UT was blown out by Vandy in 2012. Call it poor scheme, coaching, or player attitude, or whatever causing the loss. But the reason UT lost wasn't because USC had better players. It was so obvious UT outclassed them at every position.

South Carolina wanted to win and we looked like we didn't care less.

No imagination or adjustments on offense will continue to plague us. We need to recruit 5-6 o-linemen every year instead of 10 wide receivers. All the WR do is block anyway, so just replace them with more linemen

#7 is garbage- he just does know the blocking scheme yet- they are limited to 20 hrs/week prep. It is likley he gets 2-3 reps a practice.

Butch is trying to run a spread West Coast passing offense with an inaccurate QB that does not see the whole field. I know it and the defenses know it. They have no respect for the intermediate passing game...because we cannot hit wide open intermediate. passes. The defenses key on the run because of this ...and now we cant run.

Defense cant be helped with all of the injuries. I agree with blitzing in this circumstance ...can get pressure any other way.

Butch must adapt his offense to his personnel. If Dobbs is your guy , run based , more blockers , TE heavy , zone read heavy . If Peyton Manning is your guy, spread based West Coast.
