Reason why CLK hasn't commented just yet...

Definitely want to avoid a situation like that. They are definitely approaching it in the right manner. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't hear a comment from either of them until early next week.

Not to mention that more than just football is at stake for each of these three. I don't have a problem with him collecting all of the information and making a decision.

Agreed.

If some of the posters on this board were in charge, the University would be burning to the ground atm.

If they did it, don't they have to go?

Yeah, I believe they are handling it well. I don't think it's an open and shut case by any means of who was involved and what actually happened, because after watching the video interview of the two guys that they attempted to rob I certainly believe there is more to the story. The "victims" seemed like they were lying or trying to cover something up in the video.

He needs to address the players being suspended until all the facts are in and the investigation is complete.

That would be very very bad. I seriously doubt it will take that long. We will hear something today likely. Kiffin is under a lot of pressure to take action from many in the AD including Mike Hamilton. The players were already breaking team rules by being out that late and putting themselves into that kind of position. Drugs and drug paraphernalia in the car and what not. They should all be suspended and Janzen's situation can be sorted out later.

Absolutely...but there is no reason to rush to judgement when it comes to the futures of three young men whose best shot may be slipping away from them. If they are guilty, they are gone. But, let's make 100% sure first.

Having to go and rushing out prematurally with statements before all the info has been reviewed are mutually exclusive.

Just because Hamilton and Kiffin are being prudent doesn't mean the kids won't be dismissed when all said and done.

Edwards is a gonner no doubt

Richards will be reviewed a little more closely...but will probably be gone. I don't think his talent matches the hype.

JJ may be retained assuming the staff believes the kid can/will grow up soon. JJ seems to have the background to make it given his dad has been highly involved with him while growing up. But that is not a gauruntee looking at that USC QB back in the '90's who went to Oakland. He never did grow up.

If JJ stays he needs to be assigned an upper classmen mentor that will beat his azz if he even looks at the line.

Even when the investigation is over, I would be disappointed if JJ sees the field the rest of the season. He should also be on a very short leash for his remaining time in Knoxville. Any more incidents and he'll have to go.

True. I was speaking more to the extent of commenting on the entire situation. There is no reason for him not to come out and at least state that the 3 of them have been indefinitely suspended pending an investigation.

Let's see. Talk to all witnesses, review all tape, determine intent, then make a decision. Isn't that what you keep saying LG?

Valid point about rushing to judgment too quickly.

However, if I was in CLK shoes I would have made an initial statement that all three were temporarily suspended from all football activities until all the facts are in.....

This not only protects himself and the University from potential legal action it also sends out a statement that this type of behavior will not be tolerated under his watch and quietens a lot of negative speculation about him being soft on "his own recruits".

Yes, I agree. I'm not sure why Kiffin has refused to take that action, but it is clear from what I'm hearing that he is being pressured to do something very similar to that.

The last thing he needs to do is create any sort of rift between himself and the AD either perceived or actual with this situation. I'm sure they are spending a lot of time on figuring out how to proceed.

Penn State kicked a player off the team who was later found innocent. He turned around, sued the University and won. Kiffin & Hamilton are smart enough to learn from the mistakes of others.....

Yeah whoever comes on after Doc Jeff and Heather were saying that yesterday. He said that he should suspend all of them indefinitely and then decide if he wants to kick them off the team after they get all of the facts.

If I were him, being picked up by the police and spending the night/early a.m. in the slammer would be enough reason for me to do it.

So far it just sounds like he is mimicking Hamilton's early comment about the situation. I would imagine that both Kiffin and Hamilton each have a good idea how they want to handle the situation. Just making sure they are both on the same page and that every step they take from here on out is the right one becomes the problem.
