I found myself wondering why Tennessee would allow a list of their top 5 coaching candidates to be released to the public. I came up with a few reasons. 1. It was leaked by accident. That's entirely possible but what if it wasn't? 2. The first two names on that list are there only for the reason of showing that this job is a seriously top notch job. While we as a volunteer nation may believe that Wright and Dixon may never come here the list shows that as a university we see our job on an elite level. Dixon and Wright would never publicly laugh in our face, and they each stand to gain some public approval of their own after each bowing out early in the tournament. In other words this helps them with their fan-base. I know that the volnation saw this as a huge mistake in the beginning but could it have been something done with purpose and a good purpose at that? Or am I giving Hammy and his crew too much credit?
