Reason for Currie's Silence

I agree...I think Currie knew the fans would be upset but I don't think he saw the voltwitter uprising coming. We did good.

Why would he do it if he knew what the reaction would be? Why knowingly roll out a coach you know noone supports?

Kinda like when Shuler tweeted support for Schiano, but didn't know about Sandusky. Only reason he rolls him out is simple; he didn't know.

I figured Currie had somebody checking these coaches out. And I got a feeling who "did". Don't miss the forest looking at trees. This little game has been played before.

Why even go after a coach you know no one is going to support? Especially one with as many red flags as Schiano. It's like how a kid does something wrong but tries to hide it from his parents as long as he can hoping that they won't be as mad.

I think it's sheer arrogance; the problem is that arrogance and stupidity are an extremely toxic combination. Currie thought he could pull off a silent coup, and recover because it was too late to do anything about it. Arrogance in the business community means doing what you want without permission and not bothering to ask for forgiveness. In most settings, it works; football and unforgiving fans aren't one of those settings.

Many people were applauding Currie for keeping everything about this coaching search close to his chest and not letting anything out. However, in hindsight, I think he was trying to keep it quiet because he knew what the reaction would be. It was almost like he was trying to get the deal finalized without anyone finding out and then we would just be stuck. I feel like this man cannot be trusted. He seems to be very shady in his way of doing things.

No way in hell he expected this reaction.

I can't say I did either but I am happy that the fanbase responded in this manner.

Personally, I felt some of the same stuff that stopped the Schiano hire was used unfairly agains FCBJ too early in the season and helped him to lose the team and ultimately costing UT a few wins.

Fans and social media do have an impact on teams and programs and this reaction to the Schiano hire proves it.

He's silent because he's debating the choice between seppuku, hemlock, or permanent exile in Antarctica or Outer Mongolia.

Seriously, he'd have to come up with Gruden for real to save his butt now.

Well looking back his promise was kept... he said his hire would be explosive and expensive. It was explosive, a big turd bomb that is. It appears it may also be expensive as we are going to wind up paying a pedophile protector for damages.....

It was pure hubris on Currie’s part in my honest opinion. He thought he was making a big time hire and that Vol Nation would adore him because he got his guy. He believed the fans making noise were just a loud minority and that once again Vol fans would rally around the new coach as we’ve whole heartedly done even with Kiffin, Dooley, and Jones(The Three Stooges). Kansas State fans tried to tell anyone who would listen the weasel was in over his head there so imagine what he’d do here. He’s Hamilton 2.0 and a weasel. His ego thought he’d be lauded but we finally stood up for ourselves. How else can you explain hiring a guy who was almost universally rejected once his name was floated in rumors. Currie didn’t listen and didn’t care what was felt. Cheers Vol fans.
