MH may have Extended CPF because of Cut's departure... MH may have known that Duke was looking at Cut and that there were other schools looking at our coaches...(Schools must give Notification).. Just speculation but if we lose coaches it will be harder to get coaches at UT if Fulmer is under the Gun and we have a volatile situation within the ranks... Maybe MH anticipated this or maybe he did not.... Thus the reason for the Extension...

I highly doubt it. CPF was extended to 2012 because you don't want to send a coach out on the recruiting trail with less than a 4-5 year commitment. It's just the way college coaches' contracts are handled.

Isn't it two fold... I would not want to coach at UT if I did not feel I was going to be stable and secure in a job for a while...Seems to be Two - fold... If it affects recruiting then it should also affect Staffs equally....He was extended to 2013 before this extension then MH added a year.... 5 yrs to 6 yrs.... Seems it would affect recruiting less than staffs...If I am a recruit I would know as a 5 year student CPF would still be there my senior without the extension

Hamilton was looking for even the tiniest opening to justify the extension. Unfortunately for him, he had to live through an atrocious first half of the season to finally see some light.

Totally illogical post. What other program (pro or college) would want Fulmer. Jeez, gimme a break. And what does an extension of Fulmer's contract have to do with Cutcliffe going or staying. Cutcliffe leaving because of the $$$$.
