Really, we are favored to beat a Ranked Team?

Im all for confidence and I drink the cool aide as fast as anyone, but to say that we should be the favorite is a tad over the top. Mizzou is atop the conference at 8-2 and we are 5-5. I realize we have some momentum but I dont think we need to add anymore fuel to the fire by making them the underdog. Now they will feel disrespected and they will be ready to make a statement. I just hope our boys can handle the success and emotion of the November SEC grind. Bring on 7 Wins baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mizzou is ranked in top 20 in case they win out. They beat us, they will move to 16. If they beat Arkansas, they move up more because at that time Arkansas will be a top 25 team. They'll be ranked no worse than top top 12 when they play in SEC championship. Which in that scenario would be a top 4 west vs top 12 east. And the reason why they'll shoot up so high to #12 is because they will claim that GA was really in the top "4" when they played them... allowing the reason why GA dominated Mizzou at "that time"

Arkansas will be 5-6 or 6-5 when Missouri plays them. There's not even a remote chance the Hogs would be ranked.

Your theory's flawed.

Completely different offense at this point in the season.

Agreed, the stats will improve.

I laugh at everyone thinking that Tennessee set the line at -3, it's Vegas folks. They are in the business of taking your money.

When you look the Vols are solid will be hovering just outside the top 25 by seasons end if they take care of business.

We are home and playing well. The team believes that they can compete and win, as it should be. GBO!

(P.S. this is me just speaking how i really feel and i am sure most on volnation feel this way but won't admit it losing the big games is something we continue to do, hopefully it stops this saturday night. if it don't i don't think it's ok and it will show a lack in coaching at the very least. )

The only "big" game I saw UT loose this year was against Florida. That 1 really hurt but was really impressed how our guys have come back and won 3 out of 5 since then. The 2 loses to OLE MISS and ALA understandable. For this young team to have 1 of the toughest schedules in the country and to have themselves in a position to go to a bowl game is huge.

If we were to loose to MIZZOU I still see it as body of work for the year. We have made huge progress since CBJ has come to town.

GBO

Holy...holy...holy... :thud:
I don't know what's worse between your poor English skills, or the fact that you are already blaming coaching for a hypothetical loss in a game that has yet to be played.

Our team is playing the most complete it has in years and you say we can't beat MIZZOU? Win or lose at least support your Damn team.

Save your negavol comments in case we do lose, lord knows thousands are.

If we lose to a ranked SEC East leading team it wont be the end of the world, they got a good football team, we can beat them if we don't make mistakes, should be a real good game like 31-28 Tennessee, as long as we beat Vandy and go to a bowl we will have the MO JO heading into 2015, we are coming fast and the entire nation will see that in 2015 when we trounced the East and win the East and go to a New Years Day bowl, then in 2 016 we are talking about Playoffs and I mean playoff spot for the BIG ORANGE, we are coming and nobody can derailed this BIG ORANGE TRAIN.:dance2:

Don't forget that aTm has the 116th ranked defense in the nation, while the Vols are ranked 39th. That should work in our favor. Mizzo's defense, ranked 24th will have a lot to say about the outcome as well.

On offense aTm is ranked 8th, Vols ranked 87th and the Tigers ranked 105th.

Still believe Vols win, GBO!

That's slightly off. A&M has played one more game than a lot of these teams (their second bye is this upcoming weekend).

If you look at the yards per game (which would adjust for that issue), they're actually around 102 with 445 yards per game given up, 82nd in pass defense with 236 yards per game, and 107 in rushing defense with 208 yards given up per game. They also give up about 28 points per game (ranking them 78th).

We really shouldn't win. But we are playing well enough that it's a good possibility. And we're at home. But Mizzou plays so much better with their backs against the wall so I'm sure they can't wait. Mizzou is a very well coached team. I think it'll be the toughest test for Dobbs and the offense since Alabama. What scares me is the recent injuries and off-the field issue(s). This could go well or could go really bad.

If we stop the run and not turn the ball over we will win. We have more talent than Mizzou and 104,454 of my closest friends giving us a distinct home field advantage. I really think that we have turned the corner and are headed for bigger and better from here on out.

We could be undefeated and playing FSU in the title game and some on here would still say we don't have a chance, or either doubt our chances of winning.

What was typed...
Sounds like we are setting ourselves up for an epic fail on national tv saturday, yes we have an offense but can they have a bad game and still get the W? Also our defense is not that great especially in the red zone, gosh how i hope we can win saturday but my biggest fear is we won't. i would prefer we beat missouri than vanderbilt to get to a bowl. we need to beat a top 25 team and this is our last chance. Everyone is counting the chickens before they hatch. we have made progress with two decent wins but we are not over the hump yet, this game will determine that though. Go VOLS!! Pull off the miracle saturday night! The media and the entire world is trying hard to jinx us so we lose saturday why else would they favor us over a ranked team? Randolph is the key to the back end, his dumb hit may have cost us this game.
I hope i am 100% wrong and we annihalte missouri by 50 points.

we had all this last year with smokey grays and not quite a full house over 90,000 though and a bowl game on the line and we lost to vanderbilt due to poor coaching and player execution. just saying the facts that i hate presenting cause it happened and should not have but it did.

Let's talk about something bud. First of all, have you ever actually been to a game at Neyland? Do you watch football, at all? What does being favored over a ranked team in this case really mean? Are you familiar with how Missouri has actually played this season? Do you not understand that Vegas knows a little about what they are talking about? Did you express the same opinion last week when Vegas favored Arkansas over a ranked LSU? Do you think Vegas cares who is ranked by a human poll? Good grief, please think before posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh ya LSU ranked 17TH Arkansas not ranked.
So ya their is a chance Vols win lol

Vols win... And I don't think losing one starter on defense, granted Its a big loss, changes the way the line plays out. I know one thing though, with or without aj johnson neyland will be rocking and the players will be ready. Go vols
