Really surprised at Monte

WOW! Bashing Monte is the excuse for us this week? Come on guys we have 5 healthy linebackers to play the entire game! How many times did we have McCluster dead to rights for no gain or a short gain?! So do all you guys want Chavis back now? Come on now there are still games left to play, so let's not give up! GO VOLS

When you give up 300+ yards rushing you deserve some criticism.

You apparently don't watch much football. Being outschemed happens constantly. Watch a Chicago Bears game some weekend, for instance.

Why can't it be the coaches fault for not deciding to take away those runs and make snead beat you? Blitz off the edges...bring 9 in the box and basically run a 4-5-2.

It was inexcusable. The missed tackles were MAINLY because of bad angles because of PLAYERS BEING OUT OF POSITION due to the scheme.
So it was all coaching today? Nothing else, just poor coaching? Forget the dozens of missed tackles and the depths issues, unless of course you're one of the brainiacs that thinks two future NFL players on a defense should be all a college team needs.

None of this is surprising however coming from the guy that was having a meltdown at approximately 9AM on Signing Day this past year.

When the outcome is this pathetic, it IS solely on the coaches. Especially when this squad has shown that it is capable of handling SEC-level talent.

If McCluster only gets 125 and its a close game, sure...different story. But when there are zero adjustments on the motion-wildcat plays, that is coaching...pure and simple.

I am blown away, after the great jobs he has done on FL, Bama, USCe, that he did not find a way to stop basically the same 5 frikin plays that Ole Miss was running. Everybody knew McCluster was all they had. How do you not have run blitz packages ready to get somebody in his face before he gets moving?? Monte continues to struggle with teams that have non-traditional offenses. Guess he has some things to learn even with his experience.

We were starting a true freshman at FS, we did start a true freshman at LB, don't have a corner who can cover opposite Rogan, and have gone through 4 MLBs (the most involved position in this defensive scheme)

No coach alive can absolutely dominate with those kind of issues.

Can someone tell me how many healthy bodies we have on defense? I do recall our offensive play calling looking pretty bad also. They beat us straight up, all around! No reason to point fingers at the defense when our offense couldnt get going either!

Now we're getting closer.

They have not faced anyone with McCluster's speed.

Couple that with the fact that we have only one proven LB and are down to our 3rd string MLB (a critical position in Monte's D) and you're heading for disaster.

I don't know, Florida's Demps is pretty fast....

Monte isn't used to seeing the style of offense he saw today...We didn't do all that well defensively against Ohio or Auburn either....

The coaching staff will have to figure it out though because Kentucky runs alot of that gimmicky offense too....

Is "fyp" standard operating procedure in those situations?

I think not. I didn't mistype anything. How about you just present facts instead of being so blind to the reality of Monte struggling vs. These types of offenses.

No, you didn't mistype, you just left a lot out. Let the meltdown continue, I won't hassle ya anymore.

Of course a Fulmer suck like you thinks it's funny when we lose. I'm not the least bit surprised.

Why don't you go troll a Bowling Green board about how Dave Clawson is to blame for everything including the swine flu?

Not laughing at the outcome. I'm laughing at all the idiots on here. I'm correct in my analysis.

Look, this isn't a zero sum game. When you give up as many yards as we did today the blame goes all around, from the coaches down to the players. We have one stud DT, one good pass rushing DE with a bad back, and the rest of our DL are just guys. We are paper thin at the LB position, playing a backup SS, and our CB's aren't great tacklers. We were distracted by the Pilot Three that blew up the week. Our defensive coaches still haven't put together a solid effort against a spread/wildcat team, and McCluster was in space all day long today. When he wasn't, we missed the tackles. I think that about covers it. I'm not trying to be flip, but we just sucked from top to bottom on defense all day long. I know Snead and McCluster are good talents, but they sure haven't looked like that against anyone else all season.

What a stupid statement.

There's probably a half dozen guys that are going to play in the NFL on that defense. It's not average by any means.

I don't see a half dozen. Berry, McCoy, Williams. Maybe Walker. Thats it.

While I wouldn't call our defense "average" our lack of depth on defense is ASTOUNDING. Our LB corp is decimated, and for @#% sake we had a walk-on with no game experience playing in the secondary today!!

This one's not on Monte. We just didn't have the horses out there today. Their OL dominated the line of scrimmage all day. I'm talking GAPING holes. And our LB and secondary play was just awful. McCoy and Berry both had their worst days of the season.

WTF! Is this for real? You guys are really questioning one of the greatest defensive minds in history? I'm sure Monte was just standing on the sidelines not trying to fix the problem. You guys need to realize this is a work in progress not a overnite fix.Get a clue.

Our defense has had one bad game. This isnnt the first time Monte has been beaten, it's a game it happens. There isn't a n offense kiffin hasn't seen. Keep in mind who his mentors are.

I'm sure Ole Miss studied the 2nd Half film of the UT/Memphis game.

Memphis ran the same plays and we could do nothing to stop it.

Everyone brushed it off as being our 2nd and 3rd stringers, but obviously, that wasn't the entire reason.

As Cris Carter says on ESPN, "It ain't the Jimmy and the Joes, it's the x's and the o's". Players miss tackles, players have been taught the angles to take to make a tackle and I am pretty sure just because they are playing a zone defense that they are not getting outcoached. Ask the Indy Colts. They play about 90% zone and they are pretty good(coming from a Titans fan).

I see a lot of you on here talking about being pro-Fulmer or anti-Fulmer. I am pro-Tennessee. I pulled for Phil and agreed he and his staff were not putting in the time to make us competitive, but still felt like my uncle died the day he was fired. So, if your main reasoning is to bash Monte, et al. because of loyalties to Phil, he will have a new team soon and they can be your favorite team.
