Really missed Shamburger tonight. JG was not good, but not bad enough to lose.

Honestly Keyton should take a fair amount of the blame for a couple of possessions tonight. The one where he got turned around for no real reason, and the one he flat out dropped on second and 7 in the second half, which we ended up not converting on third down. JG clearly overthrew some people. Even still, people act like he should be perfect, he still completed 61% of his passes for 259 yards, 1 TDs, 8.4 yards per attempt and no turnovers. That's pretty good. Offensive line just wasn't that good in the first half, mainly because Jahmir Johnson just doesn't get any push in the run game. We were very one dimensional. Wanya helped fix that as well

I thought the turning point was when McCullough came in during the second half. I thought the secondary played much better then. Slaughter was being asked to do too much, Kenneth George wasn't great. Shamburger needs to come back soon, McCullough needs to be playing far more, and hopefully that shores up those issues we had today.

He got turned around because the ball was thrown to the wrong side if it's the play I think you're talking about. JG is just too erratic with his accuracy. He goes from pinpoint to missing wide open receivers on a series by series basis. Not trying to bag on him but consistency should be expected from a 3 year starter. Like others have said, he's making the right reads which is fantastic, but he just needs to execute. I don't think anyone is asking him to carry the offense on his shoulders.

It looked to me and a lot of others that he was running a post corner route, which would've had him running towards where JG threw it. Either way, you expect an SEC receiver to adjust to a ball better than that. The execution thing is a good point, but I don't put it all on him. Receivers make mistakes that we wouldn't even be able to tell, like not getting deep enough on a timing route like a curl, just running a bad route, etc. I think lack of execution from both sides played a part in it, but that's fairly normal for a fairly inexperienced group under these circumstances. Palmer and Johnson played well, but Velus, Keyton, Hyatt, etc all are learning this system and learning it on the fly.

Totally agree here. Not only did he look over the wrong shoulder he really didn't take his route enough to the corner. That's probably a TD if he runs the route right.
