Over the last few years I think we as Vol fans have not had the pleasure of having a head coach who took responsibility, responsibly. Here's some examples:

Dooley on Bray making turnovers:

Dooley says to media his quarterback needed to “man up.” He also stated, “That’s unacceptable in our program,” “There’s no defense for that type of behavior.”

CBJ on Worley's poor performance against S. Bama:

"I'm proud of Justin," Jones said. "Playing quarterback at the University of Tennessee, there's a lot that comes with that. He's learning as we go, but I thought he showed some resiliency today."

Mike B on Justin Worley getting booed Saturday:

“As a player, and as a coach you are so locked in I don’t even know if he heard the boos. It is disappointing because he is out there giving a great effort. But hey, again, that comes with the position and being here at the University of Tennessee and having a high expectation for ourselves. When we don’t execute, we are the first people to be disappointed. It is part of the deal.”

My point I'm trying to make is this coaching staff understands expectations here, but they also know that it does no good to publicly bash a player. So, as we go forward pay attention to CBJ's message and how the negatives are betrayed upon everyone and not one single player. There are no excuses with this coaching staff, but we must settle our exceptions and emotions for this season. It's embarrassing as a fan to see some of the crap we put on the field, it's even more embarrassing when we boo our own guys when big time recruits are sitting in the stands watching. This weekend is a big weekend for the future of the Vols recruiting wise, so lets try to stay classy out there even though it is extremely difficult at times. Go VOLS!

I believe Dooley's comments were about Tyler skipping out on the media after a game

If Dooley had only coached these kids...
I guess you can't coach if you have no clue about what you are doing in the first place.
Eff you Dooley!
God, I hate Dooley!

Reality? Maybe the fans were booing this:

Tennessee at 9:23 3rd Quarter
1st and 10 at SOAL 35
Justin Worley pass intercepted by Maleki Harris at the SAlab 32, returned for 58 yards to the Tenn 5, TENNESSEE penalty 5 yard Personal Foul accepted for a 1ST down.

SOAL scores a TD with short field.

Tennessee at 8:51 3rd Quarter
1st and 10 at TENN 23
Rajion Neal rush for 1 yard to the Tenn 24.
2nd and 9 at TENN 24
Rajion Neal rush for 2 yards to the Tenn 26.
3rd and 7 at TENN 26
Justin Worley pass incomplete.

South Alabama gets the ball back, scores Field Goal. UT 31-17.

Tennessee at 4:05 3rd Quarter
1st and 10 at TENN 23
Rajion Neal rush for 3 yards to the Tenn 26.
2nd and 7 at TENN 26
Rajion Neal rush for a loss of 3 yards to the Tenn 23.
3rd and 10 at TENN 23
Justin Worley pass incomplete.

SOAL has a sustained drive but misses a Field Goal.

Tennessee responds with a short drive, missed FG.

SOAL then gets ball back, scores. Then this:

Tennessee at 8:55
1st and 10 at TENN 41
Justin Worley pass incomplete.
2nd and 10 at TENN 41
Justin Worley pass complete to Rajion Neal for 4 yards to the Tenn 45.
3rd and 6 at TENN 45
Justin Worley pass incomplete.

SOAL gets the ball back. Defense is exhausted at this point due to the Offense having 3 drives of 4 that are 3-and-outs. INT in the endzone to end the game.

That's why fans were booing. Many saw the return of Randy Sanders ball. I remember UT fans booed him when we did the run/run/Incomplete pass/punt crap. They weren't booing a certain player, specifically. The entire Offense, under OC Bajakian's playcalls, about #()*&@ the bed and cost UT what should have been an easy win against a Sun Belt team.

It was, but he still threw him under the bus either way.

not really and the situations being commented on are completely different. There are plenty of other examples without using one that doesn't fit

Um, dude they were def booing Worley. Dude was terrible the second half. You can't blame Mike B when WRs are wide open and the ball lands 3 feet behind or infront of them.

I went down the same road a couple days ago and almost didn't make it. Good luck to you :hi:

For soooooo many years I felt that the Vols had as much talent on the field as all of our opponents. However, the reason we didn't achieve more is because of our coaching staffs at this time. Today though, we do not have as much talent on the field <due primarily to our coaching carousel> but, I think our current coaching staff today is a notch above the old staff.

So yes, give this current group time to see their way through a growing period. We all know that bashing is immature and more of a statement about those who bash than the bashees.

Well maybe you want this, but I'd prefer to not have my head coach tell the media that my starting QB needs to "man up" no matter the circumstances. That's something that should be done in a locker room.

Here is some sh* t.
Make banana pudding out of it.

If your QB is clearly making awful decisions/throws... why would you then, when the game is on the line, give him 9 passes on 11 Offensive plays?

He goes 4/9. 3 of those completions were for 4, 5 and 6 yards. Other was for 22. The incompletions stopped the clock, effectively allowing SOAL to conserve their timeouts.

Look at this drive:

Tennessee at 8:55
TENN1st and 10 at TENN 41
Justin Worley pass incomplete
2nd and 10 at TENN 41
Justin Worley pass complete to Rajion Neal for 4 yards to the Tenn 45.
3rd and 6 at TENN 45
Justin Worley pass incomplete.

UT needs to keep SOAL from getting the ball with plenty of time. We're up by 7 points to SOAL. Instead of running the ball, we throw it 3 times. We run barely 1 minute off the clock and put a tired Defense back on the field against SOAL.

That was a horrible drive. Horrible calling by Bajakian. Horrible execution. That is the kind of drive that is going to get us killed against far better teams than South Alabama.

You have given me the problem.
Now give me the solution.
Is it this staff's fault?

And you can throw politics in there as well.

What is truly remarkable, however, is we are experts on all of these things, especially after 5 or 6 beers.

I'm taking a different tack though.

I'm saying it should have been up to Bajakian to realize that Worley has gone from "Good but with 1-2 bad decisions" in the first half to "bad decisions and bad throws".

Bajakian shouldn't have put the game in Worley's head/hand late in the 3rd Quarter/4th Quarter. We needed to have more than a combined 8:15 Time of Possession in the entire 2nd Half minus our opening drive.

If you include our opening drive our 2nd half TOP is roughly 11:00 of a 30:00 period. For a very thin depth defense... that's a recipe for disaster.

Nobody sees a problem with the playcalling? Nobody sees a problem with the fact that we had to go to the wire against SOAL?

You don't have to be an aeronautical engineer to look at a rock with balsawood wings and say "that thing won't fly".
