What did you really expect? CBJ has been on the job for two months and seems to be doing the work. Did we expect him and staff to travel around the country and fix UT in 8 weeks? Are we as talented as other powerhouse SEC teams well no. We are who we are and this particular team needs coaching more than talent right now. We have no identity and are a clean slate. The fact is we have to win with less for now and earn recruits with attractive schemes and solid coaching/administration. These things take time and continued support. Having said that "VFL" shouldn't be considered a death sentence or a terminal diagnosis. Optimistic? Yes. Sunshine pumper? No. Realist? Absolutely. Go Vols and flame away!

I think so people on this board have got to realize times have changed in recruiting. You don't need to go to a big school to make it to the league. What you did in the past doesn't really hold that much merit anymore. With that said I know we got hurt today by recruits going to big schools, georgia, Ohio state...etc just got to realize it's not about the glory of the school anymore, it's what the school can do for the recruit. That's why urban is so good, best liar of them all. My random thoughts rant is over.

How many reality check threads do we need? Yes we all know we have sucked for the past 5 years or so and that makes recruiting difficult. We all want to have Tennessee be good again and it is tough to year after year be beaten on and off the field by our rivals.

I am with you 100%! These guys did a pretty good job considering all the obstacles in there way. They followed a slacker that had a bad product on the field (see our record) that had done a hack job recruiting so far this season and recruit in basically a different area with different needs than kids they had already been recruiting. Actually they were at ground zero when they started. Future is bright! Next seasons results are crucial as is the next recruiting class! If we don't make a charge at this time, our downward spiral is only going to get worse. I think Butch will turn us around thou!

The worst thing for me last year was watching how completely inept and unprepared we were for every game. That was COACHING mainly on defense. Blown coverages in every game with DBs completely clueless as what to do. Take away a few of those here and there and we have a different result. I can deal with losing particularly to a better team. What I cannot stand is going in to each game knowing that we will be out coached. I hope that CBJ can fix that. Seems like a detailed oriented guy to me so good things ahead.

Finished 38 spots in front of "Super recruiter"Charlie Strong,lmfao!!!!! 59th with 1 4*!!! When we win the kids will come!

I think we pulled the expected with the exception of 1. Now CBJ will have to coach these kids up. I think Dooley handed a CBJ a ****sandwich and he inherited a bigger mess than Dooley did. If you have expectations for 8 wins next year, your shootin high. I'm focused on competing all 4 quarters, seeing fundamental tackling, etc, and hoping we can pull out a close W against a contender and get some recognition. If we can do that, we'll be back in the game.

I am with you on all this, except our returning players are as good, if not better, and a little bit more depth. Either way, CBJ has not been handed a silver platter, but I still think he is a COACH! Something that we have not had in my lifetime. This is a guy that will teach and push these guys to the next level. If he did it where he was and with what he had, he can surely do it here, even thou the competition is much stiffer.

It went as I expected outside of Bell, and according to the Bell family, that can't be attributed to Jones. It was a Dooley problem. 2014 will be the measuring stick, but in order for us to have great success in 2014, we need to win 6 this fall.

Yes its getting old been fan for 42years dont have many more years left to say wait till next year.

You can't fall as far as we have in several years and expect it to be fixed in six weeks. Just hope Jones can coach.
